Takumi comes off as cold and quite stoic. He tries not to get attached to people, as he fears he won't be able to defend them if they somehow end up being guilty. Due to this, as well as the fact he has seen dead bodies before, he is noticeably not as affected by the deaths as the other students. Although he dislikes doing it, Takumi will lie if the ends justify the means, such as when he defends someone. Not only is he a good liar, but he can also spot a liar easily as well. Despite his cold personality, when it comes to debates, he can be quite talkative and is very confident when making his points. To compliment his stoic personality, Takumi isn't exactly the most humorous person. He understands jokes, he just tells bad ones.

Due to his talent as the ultimate lawyer, he has defended people he does not agree with, but he still believes they deserve a fair trial, and therefore, it is his job to defend them. Like Satone, he has a strong sense of justice, but his lawful neutral view is in direct contrast to Satone, who believes in a more draconian view. Because of his ability to lie, he is seen as untrustworthy and somewhat shady by his peers, even if he ends up telling the truth in the long run.
