BATMAN: Under The Dark (An Original Stop-Motion Series)
Lord mega andy for Commissioner Jim Gordon
With a Gary Oldman inspired take in mind, Commissioner Jim Gordon's vocal characteristics should resonate as experienced, aged, mature, sometimes stubborn, and relatively righteous in his own way. He shouldn't sound obnoxious, annoying, or bossy, but rather kind, soft, sympathetic, and potentially passive-aggressive/sarcastic if the script calls for it.
As far as the actual voice goes, again, Gary Oldman's portrayal is the number one thing I'm looking for... not an exact impression (because that's impossible), but something either super close, or reflects the character of Jim in the best way possible, keeping said characteristics nearby.
Deep, almost back-of-the-throat speech (not sounding forced, bored, raspy, quiet, or strained, unlike Batman haha), that still keeps the humanity intact for the most part, especially since Oldman in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises had his particular Gordon voice set, while his personable persona still crept through a tiny bit.
Lastly, I love working with voice actors who are just as passionate about certain projects as I am. Whether that be adoration for the source material, the material you're currently working on, the influences of said material, etc... if you could bring your A-game to auditions in the same way you would if you end up being cast, that'd be awesome!
Good luck, and thanks for reading!
- Daniel.
Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a dark knight.
(soft argue) You're always here to help. But maybe you shouldn't be... maybe this is when I tell you to let it go... that you've done your part. Maybe we didn't win, but you could go home; hang up the mask. Maybe you could be content with a good night's rest.
There’s a point. Far out there. When the structures fail you. When the rules aren’t weapons anymore, they’re shackles, letting the bad guy get ahead. One day, you may face such a moment of crisis, and in that moment, I hope you have a friend like I did. To plunge their hands into the filth so you can keep yours clean!
Thank you for auditioning!
