At the age of 12, Benjamin's parents knew it wasn't normal for someone so young to be quite literally 6'4". To say that he went through an "early growth spurt" is a heavy understatement. By the time he enlisted with the Army, he stood at 7'3"; hauling ammunitions and heavy artillery was (and still is) a little too easy for Ben. While he was a candidate for the SPARTAN-III program, the combination of its subsequent dissolving and him participating in multiple tours of duty made it near impossible to get a hold of him... at least, until now.

A man of Ben's stature has, of course, a bit of a booming voice. While not too deep, it's still enough to rattle someone's bones, even if they're five feet away in the same room. He also has a distinct smoothness to the way he speaks, and yet it's still enough to command respect from others in his branch.
Brother, I've got a bad idea. You're light enough, right? All I've got to do is throw you over that ridge, and bang! They'll never expect a flying Spartan WITH guns! ...Then again. that's not going to be a fun landing... You know, armor and all...1000 lbs armor...
I know it's scary here, kiddo. When I was your age, I used to be terrified of space, too. You know what I did to keep myself calm? I counted every single star I could see until it put me right to sleep. See that there? That's Pollux.
