You do not have to be black to audition for the role of Bernice; though if we could get a real black woman to play Bernice, that’d be fantastic!

Bernice Roberts is the heart and "team mom" of the Reapettes. She's the calmest and most polite of the group, the easiest to approach, and the most grounded. She is nowhere near as eccentric as her four friends, but her determination and heroism makes her more than worthy of being on the Reapettes team. She is the older sister of Bertha Roberts, who eventually joins Purgatory, a villainous crime gang from the Other who wish to rewrite the universe into chaos to prove the meaningless of life and death. Bernice originally joins them just to save her sister, but once she finds out Bertha doesn't want to be saved and actively tries to kill Bernice, she eventually stays because she finds value in being a Reapette. She wishes to stop the dark forces that robbed her of her family so no one else may feel the pain of losing someone close to the supernatural, as well as knowing life and death are worth protecting despite the pain it can bring people. As well as finding value in being a protector of the afterlife and a friend and sister figure to Vivian, Skye, April, and Erica. Bernice's personality is very charming: generous, smart, and gentle. She's nowhere near as kooky as her friends, so she's very cautious and occasionally uncertain of the supernatural mishaps of the Other, even Death himself. Due to her losing her sister to supernatural forces, she takes them very seriously and is often intimidated by them, while still finding the courage to fight for what she believes is right. She can be kind and patient, but has a fear of hurting others. She can even be angry, bitter, resentful when people don't notice her kindness or mistreat her. She can even be prone to neglect other people when she is angry because she doesn't want to hurt them, and she can be susceptible to getting herself into sticky situations. She’s a strong Christian and often has her faith put into question the more she uncovers, but she still remains her true, beautiful, compassionate self through even the darkest nights.
