Born Punk
SennaFox for Roughneck hacker living in cyberpunk slums
Ideally, Eevi would be speaking with a light Scandinavian accent; it's not a requirement, but definitely a plus. Please don't be dissuaded if Scandinavian accents aren't in your repertoire!
Character Bio
Eevi ‘Sparrow’ Rinasdottir was born in Haven, Bornholm in 2021 to a blue-collar family. Like most of Haven’s residents, Eevi and her parents were members of the city’s unspoken second class, effectively designated so by the island’s ruling Conglomerate. Though not born into affluence, Eevi was in many ways among the luckiest of Haven, with her family serving as factory workers under contract with American Frontiers in The Works. However, one fateful day at the tender age of 9, Eevi’s parents vanished from AF premises under suspicious circumstances. CorPol issued no statements as to their disappearance, and no eyewitnesses ever came forward.
Alone in the world without parental guidance or financial support, Eevi was taken under the wing of a decades-long friend of the family, Harald 'Guldklump' Sokolov, the owner and barkeeper of the ill-reputed 'On The Ragnarocks'. With little in the way of extra-curricular activities to occupy her time, Eevi roamed the streets of Bornholm by both day and night, invariably resulting in her becoming a street rat in a local gang. During her formative years within this gang, she learned to hack modern and antique hardware and software alike. Acquiring money through legally dubious means, Eevi was able to purchase her first 'jack', an implanted cyberdeck, at the age of 14.
Throughout her teenage years, Eevi continued participating in gang runs and raids against targets too weak to pose much of a threat to her woefully underequipped, undereducated and borderline illiterate band of criminal brothers and sisters. As a budding pistol slinger and ever more proficient combat hacker, Eevi specialised in infiltrating small-scale corporate facilities to steal and sell data, earning her an appreciable amount of respect amongst certain denizens of Haven who would otherwise consider her easy prey. Eevi continued on this path until age 20, when she was wounded and consequently captured during a raid on a Mitsotomo research facility.
Rather than turning Eevi into the human equivalent of Swiss cheese, Mitsotomo’s Bornholm division opted to recruit the young hacker, impressed by her skills. Slightly to her chagrin, Eevi joined Mitsotomo’s internal security force, protecting the very facilities she once plundered, whilst also engaging in illicit operations against other corporations, even those within the Conglomerate. Two years ago, Eevi was critically wounded during an operation conducted in cyberspace. The damage sustained to her jack by the hostile hacker dealt her significant brain trauma and almost claimed her life. Deemed physically and psychologically unable to work, Eevi was released from her contract with Mitsotomo, an unusually mercyful fate for how she came into employment. Eevi has since returned to Haven, working as a bartender under her foster father, Guldklump. She resides above the bar in a small apartment, engaging in occasional small-time data drills and selling the virtual spoils to the bar's highest bidders."
[Situation: Eevi has a hangover, just woke up, and is late for work. She's tired, grumpy and annoyed at herself]
Uuurgh. Lort! That headache... what happened?
The last thing I remember is drinking something... red...
Drek! Well done, Eevi! There's no time for a hangover today!\
There's the data drill this evening...... and my shift down in the bar...
And where in this pesthole is my hand? HOW? Okay. You need a plan, Eevi. Focus.Step One: Don't go anywhere until you know where your hand is.
Step Two: Get rid of that mother of hangovers.
Step Three: do the data drill, get rich.
[Situation: Eevi was captured by the corporation she once worked for. She is being interrogated by their CEO. E is Eevi, M is the CEO, just so you know what she's responding to. Her mood is defiant]
M: Welcome to the Conglomerate Navy Docks. Very secure place. Perfect for discreet negotiations like ours.
M: I trust my medic treated your little shooting accident properly, yes?
E: Yeah. Never been better. Almost makes me want to go for it again.
E: Anyway, why did you drekheads execute our guests? Swooping in to kidnap some Haven lowlives not thrilling enough for you?
M: Believe me when I say that wasn't my intention. It was... necessary, but I know I will have to atone for this one day.
E: Huh. That's awfully reflective for a cold-blooded murderer.
M: Things aren't as they seem. Things aren't as they seem at all.
E: All seems pretty clear to ME.
