Here We wander {Original Audio Drama} Casting Call
d flat minor for Toast
Time Period: Deadlands , 3001
Voice: I am completely open for the voice. The character’s gender is not locked yet so I will take both male and female auditions. This character is partially inspired by Mad Max so bonus points for an Australian accent.
Personality: Kooky. Scatterbrained. Animalistic.
Backstory: Most of civilization fled when the Earth’s resources became limited. Those unable to afford a ticket were forced to fight for whatever remaining resources were left. After years and years had passed society had reverted back to limited technology where whole clans revolved around hunting and gathering food and water. Toast just wants to survive.
(Narration) Step on bug, step on bug. Crunch heads first. On my hands and knees now scooping up it’s little guts. Toast gets to eat. Guts not good, not bad, just food. Never enough of it here. Not for me, not for rest. Everything comes down to making sure belly monster is kept at bay.
(Narration) Toast kills for food. Like all do. Only killers left in world. Some are friends. Some were friends. And some Toast will have to kill soon. Their heads don’t crush quite as easy.
(Dialogue) Kitty has nice hat. Toast wants to wear it to blot out sky circle.
Australian accent is much easier in a normal tone... Never sounded right in the persona I was trying to portray here. Anyways, may have gone a little too, "cooky" but I had fun with this one!
This audition is the best thing since heated, sliced bread!
I see what you did there
I really hope you get this role! If I heard your audition prior to submitting mine you'd best believe I'd have gotten discouraged XD
Thank you very much! And don't get discouraged by others' auditions. You did it right by auditioning first and listening to others later if you do get down over it, though. Plus, having male or female auditions for a single character, don't worry about what a male audition sounds like; that's comparing apples to oranges ^.^ That said, your audition was pretty good! Your audio quality is phenomenal and your voice comes across clear and precise. Something that was noticeably lacking, however, was emotion. Sounded to me a bit like a script read. I still like your voice, though! And apologies for this turning into a critique suddenly XD again, just don't get discouraged over how another did, especially when it's a unisex role ^.^
And after listening to your other auditions, I don't need to tell you about emotion o.o like, holy crap you're a good VA and now I'm assuming the lack of emotion was intentional?
Thanks so much for the criticism I always appreciate it! And I think I clearly read the character wrong so thanks for pointing that out ^^ As for the lack of emotion, it wasn't exactly what I was going for. I sort of interpreted the character as a bit simple minded rather than insane.... so that's probably where that came from. It was a massive misjudgment on my part cx And you're a great voice actor too!
Perhaps you should put up a second audition now that you actually have a better idea of the character? I'd like to hear it
Hmm... I suppose I let myself get too discouraged and didn't consider it... But you're right! I really should take another bash at it! Let my crazy out \(*0*)/
Do iiiiiiiiiiit! Also, I noticed I'm working alongside you in galaxy door saga! ^.^
Oh no kidding? What a crazy coincidence! What character are you voicing?
The deed is done cx I butchered the accent but at this point I'm just happy I redid it at all
haha! I thought it was kind of funny how the accent would come and go XD As far as Galaxy Door Saga, I'm playing both Skubas and Bop in their second series coming up
That's awesome! I look forward to working with you friend (^~^)
Daaaang! That was awesome! I will be shocked if you don't get this part, that was phenomenal acting right there. My Toast take wasn't nearly as spot on as yours was, your voice inflection perfectly portrayed the kooky, but still sane enough to talk vibe. Like, seriously, well done dude. ^^
