andrastae for Liara T'Soni
Doctor Liara T'Soni is generally soft-spoken, with a decidedly breathy feel to her voice. She can raise her voice and be rather intimidating when she needs to be, but by and large prefers her more natural, demure vocal volume. Similarly, she is by and large a pacifist, as an archaeologist by trade, and prefers non-violent solutions to otherwise tense situations. She can and will defend herself, should the need arise, and in the event that her patience runs dry, she can be a force to trifle with, using powerful biotics and a strong proficiency in handguns to quickly neutralize her opponents.
Originally voiced by Ali Hillis, you can click here for a small sample of Liara's voice, for reference.

Heya, Andrastae! First of all, let me thank you for taking the risk to reach out and audition. It's always a big decision to audition for anything, let alone something like this, which is often looked down upon in society. So massive kudos to you for being brave enough to do so! Let me first start by saying that I really like your voice, and appreciate the amount of content you've got on your Soundcloud. I can tell you're pretty invested in voice acting, and there's nothing I appreciate more than people being passionate about their interests. I hope you don't mind if I provide some feedback, both positive and constructive. For the positive, I definitely think you're on the right track, and I feel that with a bit of practice and with taking the following criticisms in stride, you can definitely get pretty close! I feel your voice is just about there, and with a bit of work, you can get it there. As far as constructive criticism goes, the biggest thing I want to point out is that it feels a bit forced, like you're being a bit self-conscious and are concentrating on trying to get the voice juuuuust right. Again, I appreciate the dedication, but a consequence of forcing like that is that the performance comes off a bit stiff and stilted, with a lack of dynamicy. My friend whom I listen to auditions with described it as "monotone", noting in particular that the last line was underwhelming. I don't think I'd go so far as "monotone", but more of "desaturated", to use image terms. You have a dynamic range there, but it's really small, and I feel that's because of the forced performance. So my suggestion to that: loosen up a bit! Take a few deep breaths, and try not to think of it as "I am voice acting as Liara T'Soni", but instead, "I am Liara T'Soni". If that means having to loosen your hold on the accent a little bit, and let some of your natural accent slip in, then so be it - once you have the naturalness down, you can refocus on tightening things like that up. The next criticism I want to bring up is that the recordings - all of your recordings, including the ones on Soundcloud - are really lacking in the low-end. They have decent mids and highs, but the lack of lows make it sound really tinny. I'm not sure if it's your microphone not picking up the lows, or if it's your noise removal technique (which, by the way, are notorious for ravaging low-ends if overused). It could also be that you're a bit too close to your microphone - being so close to the microphone often has the consequence of the microphone being overly sensitive to the higher tones of your voice, resulting in the low ends being underperformant. I'm not really sure what all you could do if the tinniness is a result of the microphone, but I recommend you try sitting back a bit farther from your microphone, and projecting your voice a bit more solidly for the microphone to get a more firm read. I don't recommend sitting back and then upping the sensitivity of your microphone, though - that'd only really be shifting the problem back with you. All in all, I think you are really close! I think that if you were to take these criticisms in stride, experiment with getting a better recording and a more natural performance, practice a bit, and then re-audition, you can get a whole lot closer! I personally think your voice is perfect for characters with a flair for romanticism, which is a perfect descriptor of Liara. We just need to work out the kinks, and get you up to your very best! I want to thank you again for auditioning, and again commend you on taking the risk of reaching out for a project like this! I am hoping to hear from you again in a few days, but regardless of if you decide to try again, I wish you the very best in your budding career as a voice actor! :D.
Hey there! First of all I really appreciate that you give feedback at all, especially in such extent, that is a rare thing, so thank you! Well, no offense, but you have given a sample of the original voice and you will have to admit that you would prefer the exact same or at least a very close voice, that however means that I(and all other actors too) will try to imitate the voice of the sample. Since my voice is not so breathy and pretty different I of course had to "force" my voice to sound altered and more like her and that explains why it sounds like that ^^ the longer I imitate it though, the better and less forced it will sound, pretty simple :) About the quality, I will try to improve that in the future and take your criticism to heart! Thank you very much for your time and also for your wishes, but I do not think I am capable of getting that far in voice acting :) I wish you a nice evening and thank you once more!
