Black Jack Smith is the type of character who was always caught up in his work. He is always quiet and snaps at anybody who talks to him. Even his son Bug. But Jack changes once they started their journey. He is open, hearty, and he is kind to everyone. He is kind of gruff. he acts tough and he has a very guttural and hearty laugh. his laugh is described in the book to shake the very dock they stood on. He may not be a pirate per say but he has an eye for treasure as well. He is also the main antagonist.
