Chinami is an ‘otaku’. She’d label herself as a weeb, but she’s already Japanese. Is it possible to be too obsessed with your own culture? She owns countless plushies of all of her favourite anime characters, dozens of posters of smiling magical girls and grinning Shonen Jump stars and hundreds of anime figurines. To add to her collection, she also has multiple replicas of objects used in animes, such as magical girl wands and Naruto headbands. The icing atop the teetering cake is where she gets her money from. After all, an anime empire doesn’t come cheap. Chinami’s job is at an anime-themed maid cafe, acting like a tsundere to appeal to the other weebs who visit the restaurant. Her personality is rather unremarkable; an easily-excitable, gullible, naive girl with an obsessive personality and way too many hyperfixations to count. She is loyal, however, and finds that making friends is easy for her. The only problem she ever encounters with other people is that they just don’t understand her and her anime. She stays up late every night watching anime and reading manga, so she frequently falls asleep during class. She wants to be a manga artist when she grows up.
