Julie said the second she finished, grabbing her by the hand and leading her out to the door.  Other kids were waiting, sitting on the clouds outside.  Julie introduced each of them and they smiled in turn, making her feel welcome, this was where she truly belonged.  But before she could ask any questions, a swarm of fairies buzzed around them and they set up a tea party filled with lots of tea and tiny cakes that tasted like honey and nectar. 

Sophie cried hard but as silently as she could so that they didn’t hear her.  She knew what was coming - she could read the signs - this awareness made it difficult for her to breathe.

As the bus pulled up, she put a thin, tight smile on her face and took a seat towards the back by herself.  It wasn’t that she liked to be alone, but the other kids didn’t like to be around her.
