The "Devil" is essentially on the inside of the main protagonist's head. Always there during his worst moments and is an extension of himself. He is the embodiment of all the negative thoughts in the boy's head. He is inside the head of "Marty" who sometimes has his moments of silence alone in his room. During those moments, the "Devil" emerges in his room and taunts him. All in the imagination of Marty, of course. Given Marty's obsession with movies and tv-shows, he can think of pretty creative insults and phrases to say to himself.
DEVIL: (chuckles) Well, well, well.. HERE we are again.
MARIO: Leave me alone.
DEVIL: So what? Nobody watches your films anymore. Who cares?
DEVIL: Screw those little kids. What do they know, huh?
DEVIL: They spend their free-time commenting "cool video" two seconds after it's uploaded. We'll make a comeback. I know how this looks.. Just imagine.. (puts on a director voice) “The devil then FLOATS OVER, behind him. Mocking him.”
DEVIL: We'll make something so hipster, they won't even understand what the hell it even means!
MARIO: Yeah, sure.
DEVIL: Nobody cares about your cinematic, "artsy-fartsy" talkie-toy bull- shit! They want action. Funny stupid videos to keep them laughing in their panties.
MARIO: It's not about that.
DEVIL: You know I'm right. Your passion is a dead-ghost town. Sooner you quit, the better.
