Cam is playful, but ever since his wife died a part of his lively side has vanished. He is slowly starting to let that side out again and Lisa, the woman in the terminal, is making it really easy to open back up.

  • CAM: ok. So. You’re socially awkward due to your... hyper observance. You are probably late 20’s, early 30’s. You’re here without a ticket, so I’m guessing you know somebody who works here. You are smarter than almost everyone around you and you want nothing more than to blend in and be normal. So you come to an airport terminal, the biggest collection of all kinds of different people, to see if there’s anyone out there who’s just like you.

  • CAM: Lisa, your first kiss is special. You want it to be with someone you truly care about. You will remember it for the rest of your life. You don’t want to throw it away on someone you just met.

  • CAM: Yes. (chuckles) It does suck. (Deep breath before continuing) She was everything to me. She made me feel special, like I wasn’t just another college dropout. She made me feel like I wasn’t a failure, like I actually belonged somewhere. With her. (remembering) She smelled like Christmas. It could be the middle of July and she would still smell like pinecones and cinnamon. I still remember the way she asked me to marry her. (pause) She wasn’t a traditionalist. She caught wind that I was planning to propose and she just had to beat me to it. I walked into our apartment and she rolled off the couch, her Cheetos falling off her lap and she just said “Will you marry me?” There was still cheese on her lip. (laughs) I had reservations at Fieroes, the Italian restaurant on 5th street. I had planned to have the ring in her champagne glass and ask her while we were both wearing extravagant clothing. I had planned everything perfectly so it would go as smoothly as possible. But standing there in our living room looking down at her in her sweatpants and Star Wars t-shirt with cheese on her lip, everything was perfect. She was always like that. We were married 3 months later in my parents backyard, together for almost 4 years before the crash. (Lisa watches) She died on impact.

loved your humor in the light moments of the monologue. and I enjoyed your attitude in the "socially awkward" line.
