The short film follows Ren himself- a trainee pilot cat in his twenties working up the ranks in a major airline. Ren is certainly aware of the professionalism and duty of being a pilot- to the point where he's obsessed over his responsibilities. Indeed, Ren is competent, very focused and hard-working. But his hard working attitude stems from a fear of failure, an anxious obsession for everyone to think good of him. This drives him to perform diligently in the flight deck, but that fear consumes his behaviour, actions, and every move: he's always tense, cautious, jumpy and anxious from the fear of screwing up at almost every moment- whether it's in the cockpit or talking with a stranger. Therefore, he doesn't react very well whenever he screws up- whether that's being late to work or making a mistake in the cockpit. Growing up in a society where perfection is always put up as the goal, where mistakes are seen as failures instead of opportunities, Ren's biggest obstacle in this story is his fear of himself. 

In summary:

To help get into the character of Ren, think about a stereotypical persona of an airline pilot- professional, confidant and collected. But then, add an underlying quality of anxiousness and tenseness to that persona.
