One would hope the Nobles would fight to bring peace and prosperity, but they selfishly abuse their birthright for personal gain. Few Nobles curry favour with the citizens of the town, and of those that do, even fewer are opposed to the corrupt government.(edited)

 The citizens work the cogs of this irreputable clock we call a city. They work under the oppressive thumb of the Nobles, carefully watched by the Peacekeepers.

The poor sods stuck outside the wall in the outskirts of Liège. They live in a slum. A glorified shack is what the best of 'em live in. Most just sleep in the open. None of them eat enough for one person. Constantly raided by bandits, nothing to defend themselves with. God help them.
