Toph comes from a super-rich earth kingdom family. She was born blind which is why people in her life, especially her parents, considered her fragile and unable to care for herself. however, toph never had a problem seeing as she uses her earthbending to sense movements through her feet. at a certain point in her life, she runs away from home and joins team avatar as Aang's earthbending teacher. during a time she was kidnapped, she founded meta bending. as the first and currently only metalbender, toph started her own metalbending academy.
