Cam is a somewhat disturbed individual. He struggles with his sanity and rage on a constant basis. Much of it stems from his abusive childhood and rage against his abusive, alcoholic father. After almost killing a man in a jealous rage, and doing time in Huntsville State Prison, he has vowed a life of isolation (to the point of vowing celibacy). He has no patience for drama, trivial bullshit. Not big on talking, socializing, etc... in a nut shell, dark and brooding. But contrary to the dark side of him, he believes in hard lines of morality. Killing is wrong, no matter what, which is why he isolates himself so completely. Does not want to put himself in a situation where he might do something he'll regret. He avoids any situation where strong emotions might make him do something he would regret. When it comes to relationships, he loves deeply, which is another reason he is celibate. His morals regarding women are just as rigid. He doesn't make love until he actually is in love. Not a believer in casual sex, major understatement. If he wants to fuck a woman, then he's already in deep, so to speak.
At the same time, Cam does not come from money. He's unapolagetically low rent. And although he is a bit of a romantic on the inside, on the outside he comes off more brutish and crass. He says what he means and means what he says. And he says "fuck" a lot.
A few other things: he's a foodie and opens his own restaurant; he is his stepgrandfather's major caretaker, and has a general longing to take care of others, anybody he cares for such as his brothers. Although his stepfather is still in the picture, now that his stepfather's wife and his stepfather's mother are missing, he spends much time abroad, volunteering in disaster areas around the world. So Cam is the patriarch of the family.
Unless his dialog in punctuated with an exclamation point or followed by some context, such as a dialog tag stating, "he groaned, he muttered, he growled" and the such then assume his dialog should be read in a matter-of-fact tone.
This character is central to the entire series.

“You go near that woman, I’ll beat the fuck out of you.” [as one that means what he says and hates drama, he says this matter-of-factly, but conveys a definite threat.
"The crazy, raunchy, piece of shit, sicko, waste of oxygen, fuck you won't let me kill?"
Fury and frustration at being unable to help his brother had hurled Cam into a dark place where only he and his subconscious existed. His anger festered in silence, until his mother remarried and he met his stepbrother Jags, the goofiest son of a bitch he’d ever known.
Some part of Cam still lived in that dark place and probably always would. But Jags’ relentless jovial spirit and good-nature had nudged him from that darkness. And now that he had Maggie, he was closer to the light than he ever thought possible.
