Role assigned to: Tanier Dutton

Beau Hackett ($40): Lead/Male/Young Adult to Late-Middle-Aged. North American/American with a Northern/Yankee accent. Though Hackett was a real person, we weren't able to drum up much information on him, except that he was a reporter/humorist who was rumored to have been the next Mark Twain, before he was killed int he Civil War. We're going to portray him as a bit arrogant, incredibly sarcastic and witty, highly intelligent, a little superior, with a propensity for wordplay.

ABOUT THE ROLE: Beau Hackett is describing his interview with a Union officer to become a Zouave. In it, he takes several jabs at the Zouave's for being all show and no action.

Along with Hackett, voice actor awarded this part will also be asked to perform lines for several other very minor characters (Yank, Ned, Ashby, General Negley, and voice in a crowd).

  • My father was a hero of the revolution, having been caught once in a water-wheel, and whirled around rapidly a number of times. Others of the family have also distinguished themselves as military men at different periods, but their deeds of courage are too well known to need repetition.

  • The following is a recitation verbatim et literatim et wordim of most of the questions propounded to me, and the answers thereto, which my intimate acquaintance with the Army Regulations and the report of the Committee on the Conduct of the War enabled me to answer readily and accurately. My interrogator was a little man in Federal blue, with gold leaves on his shoulders. They called him Major, but he looked young enough to be a minor.

  • I can shoulder arms, and bear arms, and carry arms, (if they are not too heavy,) and reverse arms, and support arms, (ordinarily my arms support me,) and I can order arms better than I can pay for them after they are ordered.

Try turning your gain down a tad and amplify it in whatever DAW that you use. It's picking up a lot of background noise but your voice is great!
