She's 1/2 American 1/2 Japanese, but looks like a carbon copy of her American mother, so she's often thought to just be a white girl who's parents decided to give her a Japanese name. Due to being a social outcast, no one knew that the idol they loved so much was the same girl they'd bullied into being mute. Basically, Minami would really relate to Mikan
