Ethan Cassellio for Fishbones

Role assigned to: Tyler Hyrchuk

Fishbones is Jinx's custom-made rocket launcher. Ironically, it is usually the voice of reason and frequently tries to convince Jinx to take the calmer, safer path. Of course, this is only because it is programmed to do so.

It is a gun. Guns can't really talk.

Fishbones is not required to have a specific kind of voice other than that it sounds slightly robotic, so actors with masculine or feminine voices are all welcome to audition.

  • I am Fishbones, a V-class rocket launcher. It is nice to meet you.

  • Caution. User is highly intelligent and highly unstable.

  • Observation. That woman’s hat defies the laws of both physics and fashion.

Thanks for the audition! Two things: one, it's a little quiet. I had to turn my computer's volume up quite a bit to hear it. Second, the neutrality wasn't a bad choice, but if that's the route you want to take, you want to avoid being monotone. Otherwise, it's not very easy to listen to. Try to think of how a lot of robots and AI sound in movies/TV. They're often neutral, which you've got, but they still have range in their tone. Another way to put it (that may make even less sense, in which case sorry) is that they have fake emotion. You can tell the creator wants them to sound human, but there's nothing actually human behind the words.

No problem, thanks for the reply! Just starting out, so the critique means a lot. On the first note, I got it, I've got to both speak louder (which I normally do) and crank the gain up a bit. For the second, I get it. I experimented with having more human-Esque tones and such, but wound up going full monotone. Guess it was the wrong decision, Aye? In any case, thanks for the opportunity, and it was a fun role to audition for!
