Hi Sabrina! Thank you for the audition! I additionally appreciate the extra effort you put forth in reading more lines from the manga. I’m quite impressed - way to stand out from the competition! —— Here are a few thoughts I had while listening to your audition. 1. The first three items are of annoyance and I need to hear a distinctive sense of being annoyed / frustrated by this guy. At the same time, as you know because you looked at the chapter, these are three SEPARATE instances. If the manga showed one flow of consciousness, I think I would have interpreted the lines as you have. But because these three short sentences live in three separate contexts, they need to end at the end of each sentence. 2. The next three are not so much about being annoyed, but about being grateful. You’ve made the shift in your delivery - well done! At the same time, the shift from annoyance to gratitude needs to be slightly more gradual. Maybe 60% annoyance and 40% gratitude about stepping at parties, 30% annoyance and 70% gratitude on driving you home, and maybe 5% annoyance and 95% gratitude on the last one. Does this make sense? 3. I’d be interested to see if you can go even bigger with the 3rd audition line. I’d need Igarashi to REALLY let her voice go (without hurting yourself, of course) and I would need you to be bigger. —— Thanks for auditioning! I really enjoyed it. :)
Hi back! Thank you so much for the feedback! And it really wasn't any extra effort for those other lines--I just thought that scene looked adorable as I was reading through the reference pages that you sent us, and I had to try acting it out! As for the feedback, that actually makes a lot more sense for the first line with how you're describing it! I did look at the manga as reference for those lines, of course, but I was still having a hard time picturing exactly how they should sound and how separated they should be--this gives me a much better mental image of how to vocally shape it! And, as for the third line, I am more than happy to go ALL OUT for that! The only reason that I didn't the first time was because I was recording at 9:30 at night and didn't want to annoy my roommate too much (though I could still hear her laughing at me from the other side of the house after that line)! But I'll pick a better time to record when I do my retake so I don't have to worry about that! Speaking of which, I'll probably be doing that at some point tomorrow, if that's okay, since I'm just about to head off to work. When I do record for it, though, do you want me to try to make the voice a little higher/younger sounding? I know that she's still supposed to sound at least moderately mature, but she is still just a wee little human--how much of that do you want reflected in her voice? Like I said in my description, I tried to do more of my natural tone, which is pretty low for the female side of voices, but I can obviously go higher if you think that would suit Futaba better! Just let me know!
