Dandy and rich, Theodore grew up spoiled. He is well meaning, but isn't 100% aware that "no means no," not "I'm playing hard to get." Even still, he wouldn't hurt a fly and is a rather passive person. He talks a great deal, but it is mainly talk.
He is Jean-Paul's best friend and is in love with Charlotte and unceasingly asks for her hand in marriage to which she always declines.

Unthinking and matter of fact in an almost joyous tone - “Well, if that’s the case, should we not just round up any ladies born of the suicidal or insane and throw them into the madhouse- I mean asylum?”
