In cases like these where your dubbing over an existing character don't be afraid to look at the source material. The Kazuichi you voiced seems a bit more depressive/sluggish rather than his actual kind/optimistic self. Watching a bit of his gameplay/listening to a few of his lines will definitely help in developing your own variant of the character that better matches the core material!
