The Dragon
nicolettedown for Princess
Princess Adrianna starts out as a stereotypical prim and proper princess, who is quite intelligent, but relies on her book-smarts and doesn’t seem to have much real experience on the topics she’s discussing. This begins to shift into an exasperated, slightly-pampered woman who seems over-ambitious. As the play progresses further, this molds itself into a more childish girl who needs to prove herself to the world. Finally, she realizes how much being a ruler will affect her in the future, but still feels like she must protect her kingdom and show she is a qualified future Queen.
(passive-aggressive) Has anyone ever told you some of yours? No one is perfect, I’m sure you would’ve been told to not act as aggressive, or talk down to others, or just to listen to people. You’re a knight, it’s kind of a thing I’ve noticed many of them have issues with when they are first knighted.
(getting angry) And you’re aware of the fact that this species of dragon could fly over and destroy your entire mission if it’s not inconspicuous enough? You all could die in a matter of moments if you’re too loud, or even if one of you starts a fire that’s too obvious.
(softer, explaining) I know you said you wanted to feel like you were protecting your kingdom- so do I, but I also want to feel like I'm leading mine. I need to test out my skills. I will be Queen someday. A long, long time from now. There will be a time where I have to make decisions too, and I need to be ready.
