Like Spera, Oliver was another lost soul living in the mess that was their city. Having two parents nursing a drug habit, Oliver took their place in the work force. Not book smart by any stretch of the imagination and knowing it, Oliver made up for that in street smarts, character, and charm.

When he met Spera on the harbor job they shared, he felt something special from her. First seeing her as a close friend, he slowly realized how incomplete he was without her and realized that she was so much more than “just a friends.” After some hesitation, Oliver confessed his feelings to her. To his joy, said feelings were returned. Though devoid of fairytale makings like castles and fairy godmothers, but the love shared between them was worth its weight in “Happily ever afters.” As long as they had each other, even life in the miserable future was tolerable.

Seeing no future in education nor a stable career in dock work, Oliver joined the navy. It was a matter of killing two birds with one stone, in that a career in the military was ensured in a shaky employment landscape and that a ticket to the colony on Eden would be good as his, and more importantly, to Spera as well. Sadly, everyone thought him dead following an attack on his ship by the Infinite Bornstellar.

However, this was actually untrue. In order to have his life spared, Oliver joined the crew of the Infinite Bornstellar. Unexpectedly, Oliver found himself drawn to the crew’s religion, himself “having the faith, but not being able to find a god to give it to.” In this, the most unlikely of places, Oliver found a world where he belonged.

But even then, he never forgot Spera. Hearing that she was aboard the Beyond Equilibrium, he persuaded his captain to allow her on board their vessel. In his heart, he assumed they would still be able to live happily ever after...

Oliver’s Romeo to Spera’s Juliet, he’s the lynchpin of the game’s tragic story.

He’s the other side of coin Spera’s on. Proof that true love will make a person incomplete, only to be complete by the other person. What’s more, he’s one of the few characters that’s never malicious, even as a product of Spera’s growing insanity. He’s always helpful, always caring, and maybe even a little angelic.

To put it simply, Oliver is a charming, good-hearted person who has bad things happen to him.
