Character Description:  Gongenzaka is a fourteen-year-old boy, and he is also one of Yuya’s best friends.  He has supported Yuya and defended him from his bullies.  Overall he is a loyal companion and will not hesitate to stand up for his friends or what’s right.  This is derived from his samurai heritage, which has trained him in an honorable way for how he behaves and his dueling style.  Gongenzaka is strict most of the time but has a close attachment to his friends and is willing to sacrifice anything for them.  His Steadfast Dueling style has him standing firm against his opponents and not moving at all during the duel.  This can be interpreted as him being a shield for his friends or his strong determination, both acting as a impenetrable wall.

Voice Description:  Gongenzaka, although he is fourteen, will have a deep voice, with a sense of Japanese in it, if possible.  He is supposed to be an overwhelmingly strong force but still young.

  • Yuya messes around during the training session with Gongenzaka.

"Yuya!  Have you no shame?!  Idiotic dueling like that will be your downfall in the future!  Are you trying to make a fool out of your father?!"

  • Gongenzaka is in the middle of a duel with an opponent, who ridicules and asks what's the point of NOT moving around during an Action Duel.

"This form of dueling was passed down between my family for years!  It represents our resolve, our undying spirit to keep on fighting against the waves that aim to take us down!  I will not let you make a mockery of the great name, Noboru!"

  • Gongenzaka manages to pull off a Synchro Summon, something that nobody managed to see coming.  He continues with his turn with a fighting spirit.

"I tune my Level Eight Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei with my Level Two Superheavy Samurai Trumpeter!  Almighty deity, hear the call of war!  Follow the trail of a thousand blades and arrive in a spiraling sandstorm!  I Synchro Summon!  Raise your sword to battle!  Level Ten!  Superheavy Samurai Susanowo!"

Hey, man! I listened to both of your auditions, the one for Strong and the one for Gongenzaka. A few critiques that might help you in the future. The voices that you went for on both these characters seemed inconsistent. Like you had something down in the beginning, but slowly, they transitioned into another voice. The deepness in your voices also sounded a bit unnatural (I know this is the case for most people, but there are some cases where it just seems really natural). As for the mispronunciations, don't worry about them! The main thing I would say is to go for confidence. Throughout your audition, it sounded like you weren't confident in your line readings. If you're not sure how a word is pronounced, then just try your best, but don't pause in the middle trying to pronounce it. Practice how you think it is pronounced before recording. The main key to auditions is to see how the actor will handle the fluency of a sentence. There is also a bit of background echo to your room. Might I suggest going into a compacted room (like a walk-in closet) just to nullify that acoustic feel as much as possible? This way, it won't sound out of field. Break a leg on future auditions, man! You can get pretty fair, if you keep trying!

I can gladly resubmit a better audition if it helps you. Oddly enough, I never noticed the transition of the deepness. I’m not sure how it happened. But I might play around and see if I can get that consistency to stick!

Yeah, man! I'd be down to hear a re-audition from you! Take your time, if you need it, because I miscalculated and I'm most likely going to push back the deadline!
