When Justice Goes AWOL
I began this podcast as a way to help myself after losing my favorite person, Nick Hokema. We were going to settle down together, start planning the rest of our lives while loving eachother through it- and then on January 15, 2024 Nick was murdered in the South Center Parking lot while working as a Cab Driver. His killer was an AWOL soldier from our military base here in Washington, JBLM. I talked with many people in the military over the course of a year, I had the DA for the west coast in my living room going over trial and court proceedings... but none of the answers to my question "Why is Nick dead?" were good enough. I will be examining criminal cases involving soldiers (whether their cases are put in military or civilian court) and looking at how military law could possibly be reformed to be more inclusive of civilians rights' when these awful crimes take place.
