Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW Publishing) Motion Comic Dub - Amy Recast

Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW Publishing) Motion Comic Dub - Amy Recast

Project Overview

What is this Project?

This project is a full motion dub of the official line of Sonic IDW with enticing voice acting, editing, and sound design. The project is unofficial as it is a passion project everyone in the project is dedicated to.

What is Sonic IDW?

Sonic IDW is an official line of American comic books published by IDW Publishing for the long-running video game franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog, which was created by SEGA Incorporated. The publication of the comic started in April 2018.

Introduction

Hi! I am Elise Lepley (aka TheTVBunny), the main director and sound designer on this project. I am a professional sound designer and audio engineer. I have been improving my craft for over six years and am still continuing to do so.

Why the Recast?

For a quick background on why we need to recast Amy Rose, the voice actress for Amy Rose would not respond to our messages when we needed her. This caused troubles with scheduling, and in return, this casting call was made.

Requirements

  • Your audio quality should meet high standards, which includes avoiding issues like clipping (resulting in distorted sound), eliminating any pops caused by plosive sounds from words with the letters 'b' and 'p,' and ensuring a low noise floor (minimizing background noise and static). Your voice should come through clearly and without complications for optimal audio quality.

  • In addition to technical quality, it's important to consider the acoustics of your recording environment. Excessive reverb is undesirable in character recordings.

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old. We seek individuals who can demonstrate maturity and efficiency in performing assigned tasks. Please specify your exact age in the audition description, as we require certainty regarding your eligibility for this project.

  • Please submit a minimum of two takes for each line. This allows us to gauge the range of your acting with the characters. Please format your submissions in an ABC ABC pattern, presenting the lines in their entirety before proceeding to the next take.

  • Refrain from slating in your audition. Feel free to include all your relevant information within the audition description as you prefer. Our goal is to hear your performance immediately without any introductory statements such as "Hi, I am [insert name] and I am [age]" or "[insert name]... two takes."

  • Infuse emotion into your character portrayal. We're looking for a captivating voice-over that goes beyond mere reading to deliver an engaging performance.

  • Do not do impressions of the characters on the casting call. The vocal references are for giving an idea of how the voice would sound, not for direct impressions.

Notes

  • The flat rates are for only ONE EPISODE of pay. You could be paid more for parts like "All or Nothing." The main rates are $3 per line with a $50 minimum.

  • The casting process will involve three key steps: Shortlisting, Revising the shortlist, and Making final decisions. This approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation of each audition and enables us to select the most suitable candidates for the roles.

  • Reading the requirements and character descriptions is vital to ensuring you will not be overlooked. Also, read into the characters.

  • Should there be an insufficient number of auditions for a particular role, casting may be postponed to accommodate additional submissions. This practice guarantees that all interested candidates have an equitable opportunity to audition for the role.

  • Casting decisions will not be finalized prior to the role submission deadline. However, we will begin shortlisting and quickly evaluating auditions before the deadline to alleviate work on our end. This approach enables a swifter turnaround time and ensures timely fulfillment of roles.

  • Certain roles may not be part of this casting call, as they might not be required at this specific stage in the project. Additionally, we have already filled a lot of roles prior to this casting call (either through DM offers or through other casting calls.) This approach ensures that roles are assigned when necessary.

  • The audio quality of our production is one of our top priorities, and we are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our listeners. To achieve this, we have formed a team of experts with a wealth of experience in casting voice actors or voice-over work. Our team, including the voice director, will meticulously review each audition, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates.

  • The voices you provide in this audition will serve a dual purpose. While they will certainly be used for the IDW comic dub, they will also find application in smaller dubbing projects and various other content we create. Your versatility and talent will be valuable assets across multiple productions Sonic related.
