Hello, and welcome to a little project I've been wanting to do for quite a while now: Yo-Kai Watch Abridged. Or more specifically, an abridged dub of the first story arc of season 2. This arc centers around new characters Inaho and USA-Pyon, and their journey to build a rocket with the help of various youkai. The arc takes place between episode 77-88 of the anime, and will be abridged into 9 small chapters ranging from 4-10 minutes.
Once selected, actors will be required to watch least 10 episodes of the original Japanese dub featuring the characters they are portraying. Rather hard to make a good parody of something when you don't know the original context, right?
If the project is well received, and the actors wish to do more,we may also begin dubbing some of the Keita episodes, as well as the second InaUSA arc where they become private detectives for yokai. I currently lack the ability to pay my actors, but rest assured that any and all proceeds, Patreon contributions, or donations will be divided amongst all voice actors.
Obviously, mic quality is very important, but depending on the quality of the performance, I may be able to look past sub-par equipment. The important part is that you be as accurate to the original dub as possible, while still adding whatever you feel is right for the character.
I can't wait to see what you guys can bring to these roles, and I'm very much looking forward to working with you in just a short amount of time.
The enclosed video is an example of my work editing footage and lip flaps. I've since improved on the methods I've used to make that, so any mistakes and slight errors should be present in the finished product.
A brainiac bear youkai, Unchikuma's power is to spread is 'trivia poo' on people's heads, and thus making them spend hours upon hours spouting out random facts and tidbits, even if they're not relevant to the situation. He likes to make bear-related puns when he talks
Voice: For lack of a better way to explain it, think Dexter from Dexter's Labratory. I want something that sound childish, yet still intelligent and with a thick Germanic accent, if at all possible.
Ah, it's funny you should say that. Did you know that rockets, or more technically fireworks, are actually a Chinese invention? |
And further more, the number of planets in the Milkey Way Galaxy alone exceeds 40 to the 9th power, so the odds of finding evidence of extrateristrial life is surprisingly high. |
Wow, I never actually had anyone listen to me this intently before. Thank you beary much! Please allow to express my gratitude with this token. |
An otaku geek, for lack of a better term, Inaho is a lover of all things sci-fi, fantasy, and anything related to the magical girl genre. Due to her being very socially awkward, she has a hard time making friends, and compensates this with her various hobbies and collections.
She also has a hard time focusing on what she's doing, and thanks to an overactive imagination is often distracted by whatever seems like more fun. She talks very fast and often forgets how her words might hurt other people's feelings in the process.
She's somewhat tomboyish and gets easily annoyed when she doesn't get her way. And despite her best efforts, she occasionally does more harm than good when trying to help, but at the very least, she does want to help others, and her heart is in the right place.
When she first meets USA-Pyon, at first she wants nothing to do with him. But as the story goes on, she'll eventually realize that maybe he's just the friend that she was looking for, and while they might not be aliens, having adventures with youkai can be pretty fun too.
Voice: Young female ranging from young teen to early adult. She should sound very hyper and full of energy, and very loud on top of being a very fast talker most of the time. She's very oblivious to her flaws most of the time, yet she can be reserved when the time calls for it, especially towards the end of the arc.
Chi-Watchi! My name is Inaho Misora. Yesterday, a ghost alien rabbit thing named USA-Pyon gave me something called a youkai watch. Apparently he wants my help finding some professor guy he used to know. I didn't really want to help, but then again he did bribe me, so here I am. |
[Talking very fast] *Screams in surprise* Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god could it be?! Are you...a real alien? Do you realize what this means?! |
[Annoyed] Fine, fine, what do you want? Geez, you're cutting into my manga time. |
Professor Hyuri (pronounced 'He-yu-ree') was the man who adopted USA-Pyon when he was still alive and chose him for the NASA experiment that would ultimately kill him. After the failure of the rocket, the professor lost his motivation and his dream of space exploration, and has spent the last few years seeking some kind of purpose in life.
Voice: Calm, neutral, almost void of emotion most of the time, the professor should sound distant and very forlorn. 'Sad' is not how I would describe him, hollow would be a better term. A man without purpose or any real sense of direction.
Looking at the stars? They're so faint and distant. Did you ever long for a closer look at them? I used to dream of that. But then in one day, everything I worked for my entire life went up in flames. That's when I realize that dream is folly. |
No need. I could see him the entire time. You're not the only one with special talents, you know. |
Fubukihime is an ice Yo-kai with a sweet and bubbly personality. At least on the outside. Inside she is very self serving, and is fully aware of just how 'moe' she is, and how to use that to her advantage. She may even be in league with the ultimate evil in the Yo-kai world, though we may never know the truth. Sadistic, mysterious, perky, and more than a little crazy, Fubukihime is far more than just a pretty face.
Voice: Somewhat seductive, with underlining tones of pride, a bit of Joker-style insanity, and a sense of superiority due to her high S-rank power. She shouldn't sound evil, but she shouldn't sound very good either. More neutral towards everything and everyone.
[Annoyed] Garu-chan, you said you would try harder next time. I'm losing my patience with you, dear. You know what happened to the last guy who failed me. |
Aw, isn't that cute? You actually expect me to believe such a pack of obvious lies? You guys are so funny! *laughs* |
Once a NASA test animal who died in a terrible rocket accident, USA-Pyon takes responsibility for the accident and seeks to re-motivate and apologize to his friend and father figure, Professor Hyuri, enlisting the help of Inaho to do so.
He's very shy, a bit naive, and inexperienced at dealing with both people and youkai alike. In fact, almost everything he knows about both groups is what he's learned through his Yokai Pad. But he lacks in people experience, he more than makes up for in intelligence, wit, and a good heart once he opens up a little.
He likes to present himself as tough and serious, but in reality he's much more like a rambunctious young boy who thinks he's acting grown up. He hates it when Inaho makes fun of him or won't take him seriously, prompting him to go into "Vader Mode", where his helmet fills with a black smoke and he starts shooting everything in sight with his blaster, though he doesn't want to hurt her so much as to ger her attention.
He has a habit of saying 'dani', and he often uses it in place of single word responses such as 'what', 'no', and 'yes'.
The star of this arc, USA-Pyon is somewhat selfish, and doesn't always have the right answers, but he does what he does out of love for the professor, and by the end, he'll grow and become a very different youkai than what he started out as.
Voice: Somewhat gender neutral, though leaning towards female. He should sound young, yet experienced. Like an adult in a kid's body. He's very intelligent, but doesn't always have the hands-on experience to know what's the right thing to do, and sometimes he acts tougher than he really is just to make a point
[Happy] My name is USA-Pyon. I come in peace! |
[Sad] Listen, please, just listen. I need help. And you're the only one who can help me. I need to find him. Somehow, I need to say I'm sorry. |
[Angry] Dani? I already told you, I'm not an alien, I'm a yokai, dang it! |
