When It's Over - Audio Series
Project Overview
Greetings and Salutations!
I am producing an audio series based on the premise of the webcomic 'When It's Over'. This is a somber, dialogue driven story about a group of misfits trying to survive after the world has already ended. They don't exactly like each other but that's okay. You don't need to like anyone after world's burned to ashes.
This is a story with drug references, sexual references, cursing, violence and the occasional death... So rated... PG-13? Good thing there's no onscreen nudity or we'd have to slap an R rating on there.
The webcomic itself is on hiatus, but feel free to check it out for scene reference and to get a better idea of the characters.
REQUIREMENTS FOR VOICE ACTING:
-Must have a good mic (Little to no background noise)
-Must get lines in on time (I will be alright with 2 day late lines, but after that you are kicked)
-Be nice to other Cast members
-Must have discord or another reliable contact system
-Have fun!
NOTE! We are casting for the first episode and any potential future episodes we might wish to do! Please be aware we may turn this into a multi-episode project!

You're the storyteller and the story you have to tell is NOT a happy one. You are slow, deliberate and meticulous with your word choice to set the mood, but when things start going south you do not let up on the tension.
If you can do a gruff old voice, then great! But if you have another kind of voice that can catch my ear, I want to hear it. Make magic happen...
Five years ago, the world went to hell. Two years ago, we crawled back out... barely. Now we pick up the pieces. Keeping quiet about what we did to live this long. Because we all know just because you survived... that don’t make you a hero.
The only true mark that this used to be Seattle she recognized was the Space Needle, breaking the smoke line like a corpse’s hand reaching out of the grave.
Teresa slowly opened the glove box, not daring to take her eyes off Zach. She glanced over quickly to pick up a slightly rusty steak knife and put it to Zach's skin.
A self-described 'living charity', Zach drives a semi-truck across the wild lands stocked with more weapons, clothes, medicine and supplies than one man could ever need... and gives them to anyone who asks. As any sane person would suspect, the oddly nice Zach has ulterior motives behind his kindness, but keeps them hidden behind his salesman-like personality.
Zach thrives in conversation, reveling in how he manipulates others without their knowledge. He's brash, smart and absolutely full of himself.
(Handshake) Fair enough. Hi, I’m Zach. I’m an asshole, but not the kind who’ll kill ya for no reason.
(Comforting) Out here, it doesn’t matter what you did. Only what people think you did. You gave your kid a home, food, a chance at not only surviving but living.
(Winning an argument) Now, you being a somewhat reasonable person would most likely rather die than go there, which you can, if you choose. But that would leave those two all alone. How long do you think little Amy will last?
Adoptive mother of Amy, Teresa survived the end of days in a hidden bunker and only now comes to the surface after she has run out of food. Skittish of what the Earth has become, Teresa will do anything and take anyone's life to protect her and Amy... In fact, she already has. The only thing she fears more than the outside is someone figuring out the terrible thing she did to live this long.
Teresa is scared of the new world, but to survive she'll have to learn to live in it.
(Apologizing to your child) When we came out, I thought we’d meet only bad people. Zach isn’t one of those people. They’re still out there, though. And when we run into them, you’re gonna see me be scary again because...
(Intimidating, you're holding a knife on someone) Shut up. You think because I was underground the whole time that I can’t fight? Huh? You can just take advantage of us?!
(Stunned, Your home is destroyed) Burned... it's burned. It's gone. After all these years... they destroyed everything...
Just entering her teens, Amy has no concept of what lies outside the bunker... and that's what makes it exciting! Amy loves life and approaches everything with a curious eye and a sense of adventure! Of course, this only makes reality all the more harsher. She's still growing up and will cower when true danger and violence show their ugly heads. Despite this, she remains the ever present heart and soul of the group.
Amy loves her adoptive mommy Teresa dearly but wants to find her real parents again. She remembers exactly where she got separated from them before she went underground, she just has to get there.
(Innocent child butting in) What scared you? Mommy makes that face when she's scared, mostly when we talk about about my mom and dad. So what was it?
(Apologize) I couldn't find any lollipops. I went out to get you one because you're supposed to get a lollipop when you're good at the doctor's, but I couldn't find any. Is this okay?
(Someone pulled a knife! SCREAM IN FEAR!)
Nobody's tougher than Rachel. A gun for hire who still has a heart, she joins Zach's group to protect Teresa and Amy from Zach. Rachel is very perceptive and sees people's true colors easily. She is a hardened killer, don't you ever get that wrong, but she kills to save others... to make up for those she couldn't save.
Quick to anger and suspicious of strangers, she is awkward when trying to have normal conversation. It's like a whole different language.
(Accuse!) It’s how you survived, you fucking asshole! You give people all they need but you know it’s the guns they want. You arm them to the teeth, and then you follow them until they kill each other or they run into another armed group and you collect the leftovers!
(Reveal you know who they really are) Can you blame me? It’s only natural to shoot when you see a monster.
There’s no fucking way you don’t have morphine in there! (An untrained doctor is pulling a bullet from your shoulder and there's no morphine! Bite on something and scream in pain!)
One scene, but Franc kicks most of the story off. Franc is the leader of Rachel's original group and is a fair and just man. How a man like that survived in this terrible world is just a miracle. Franc is weathered and wise, values the lives of others and somehow sees the good in Zach.
Franc's role is short, but in that short scene we get the idea that he has experienced more than anyone else.
(Handshake) I’ve been around enough assholes to know when someone’s pretending not to be one.
(Sympathetize) You only got one bed in here and there’s hardly any room in that shopping mall of a trailer you got. Never moved with a group?
(Bad people are coming! RUN!) Out! Everybody out! They’re coming!
