Project Overview

Maggie dreams of adventure, the kind her globe-trotting older sister makes a living blogging about. But she's not brave enough to tell her parents she wants to study art not business, let alone drop out of college and start traveling the world. She'll have to settle for finding adventure in her favorite video game, until that adventure becomes much more real than she bargained for... 

Elle dreams of everything staying just how it is. She and her best friend since kindergarten are now roommates in college. Once they graduate they'll get an apartment together, probably in the same city they've lived in their whole lives. But then Maggie vanishes without a trace, and the only theory Elle has about her whereabouts is surely impossible...

Kindle dreams of change, whatever that may be. Just so long as the Abandoned Order breaks out of the stagnated state it's occupied since Lydia took control. What was once a symbol of hope among the magical creatures of the Shadow Realm has become nearly as oppressive as the human kingdom they wish to thwart. When a strange human girl drops into his life, the change Kindle hopes for finally seems possible. But is the rest of the Abandoned Order ready, or even willing?

Through The Door is a trilogy of fantasy/adventure/romance novels, and my goal is to create a fully voiced version of the story. If you plan to audition, especially for a major role, be aware that this is a long-term commitment, as I would prefer to keep the same voices for all the characters throughout the course of the project. (by long term, I mean over a year. Deadlines are lenient and I work with your schedule, so there shouldn't be too much trouble.)

If I have a specific sound in mind for a character's voice, it will be mentioned in their bio. Otherwise, feel free to try whatever you think might fit with the character. If you would like to submit multiple takes with different voices, that's fine. 

There are several bit parts (nameless roles with only one or two lines) throughout the project that will be cast to actors in the project who are able to change their voice enough to sound like a different character. 

Your microphone must be good quality with no pops or background noise. You must have or be willing to download Discord for communication purposes if you are cast. (Our cast discord is lit, you'll love it I promise)

As of right now this is a passion project and no money is being made off of it. However my goal is to eventually build up a Patreon, and if that happens all voice actors will be paid for their work.

About the Character: Rainette, commonly called Raini, is the 17 year old princess of the human kingdom of Lumina. She's generally playful and upbeat, though she can be condescending and rude in her tone without realizing it. She's very used to having things her way and giving orders, even when speaking to those she considers friends. Rainette is a supporting role in the first book, but becomes a larger character as the series progresses. She is a sorceress in training, and believes she is better cut-out for the throne than her older brother Prince Casimir. She is betrothed to a Lord, but in a secret relationship with her personal knight Tobias. (the image used is from an anime. I don't have art of Raini available at the moment, but this character looks similar enough.)


About the voice: The original Rainette's voice can be found in episode one (linked) for a reference, though I am open to anything you have to offer. You must be able to perform a wide range of emotions convincingly. 

  • “Nonies. You know, non-human folk.” *condescending laugh* “Honestly— and don’t take offense as I mean this in the nicest way possible but— have you been living under a rock?”

  • “Oh, it’s a gorgeous day, we should go out to the gardens and play Hunt the Monster!” (Casimir replies: Rainette, don’t you think that’s a bit childish?) *arms crossed, glaring* “I don’t care if it’s childish, we haven’t played in ages!” (Maggie says: I wouldn’t mind playing…) *triumphant* “There! It’s settled.” 

  • *tearful, angry. shout the last sentence with as much raw emotion as you can* “She killed her, Cas. She killed Mama. And I’m going to kill her!”

About the Character: Emrys is a minor character who only appears a few times throughout the story. She is a dryad, 20 years old, and in a relationship with Inari (who is a fox shapeshifter). She is slim and willowy with dark brown skin, green eyes, and vines/leaves for hair. Emrys is extremely shy and gentle. (the picture is not actually of the character, but I do not have official art available at the moment)


About the voice: A soft, sweet, even-toned voice. Whispery but not harsh. I am not partial towards alto or soprano range, so do whatever you're most comfortable with. 

  • "Oh... so you're the human... I'm Emrys(EM-riss)... I hope we can be friends." 

  • "Nari... you promised me we would go on a walk today... Last week the marigolds were telling me a story... I would like to hear the rest..." 

  • *gentle laughter and humming, feel free to improvise*
