The Untold Prince-Reading-ADULT MALE VOICE NEEDED
Project Overview
This will be a Skype reading for a script that I wrote. The reading will take place on Saturday May 13th, at 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. I'm not sure how long it will take to read through the whole script-it's 57 pages, but please do not audition if you are not available on the date or if you can't stay for at least an hour and a half. (That's how long I assume it will be) This is a casual reading, at the moment I don't know if the script will be made into anything. This is just so I can hear some actors read my script and maybe get feedback on it. I did one of these back in March, and it was a ton of fun!
REQUIREMENTS:
-Must have Skype
-Must have a decent quality microphone
-Must be available on Saturday May 13th, 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time
-Must be okay with mild swearing
-Must be able to stay in the call for at least an hour and a half
-Must be kind to your fellow actors.
SYNOPSIS:
Isaac is set to be the next king of Sirla, but no one's happy about it. Isaac is clueless when it comes to how his people are suffering, and has no desire of learning about it. One night when Isaac sneaks out for some alone time, he's knocked out by a man named Bertram and wakes up with amnesia. A young woman named Yvette realizes this, takes him in and tells him lies about who he is hopes of making a better life for her people.

Isaac is set to be the next king of Sirla, but no one's happy about it. Isaac is clueless when it comes to how his people are suffering, and has no desire of learning about it. One night when Isaac sneaks out for some alone time, he's knocked out by a man named Bertram and wakes up with amnesia. A young woman named Yvette realizes this, takes him in and tells him lies about who he is hopes of making a better life for her people.

Isaac starts out as vain and needlessly cruel, not caring about pretty much anyone. But when he loses his memory, he becomes kind and helpless and will do anything to try and remember who he is. While he's away, he learns how much the people are suffering and tries to help in any way he can.
Line 1: This is at his coronation announcement. This line should be very cocky-he's loving the attention and applause.
Line 2: This is when he finds Yvette after losing his memory. He's very oblivious right now and needs help.
Line 3: This is when he's back home and trying to remember things about his life. Tobias lets on that Isaac was mean to him, and Isaac apologizes after Tobias tries to tell him it's alright.

Yvette is a gentle and kind young woman who's smarter than she seems and often needs to hold her own since the death of her father and her irresponsible brother. She may seem helpless but her intelligence gets her out of most situations.
Line 1: This is when Yvette and Bertram are waiting to hear about their father's condition. Bertram asks her what she thinks about the whole situation-specifically if she thinks what their father did to upset the royals was wrong.
Line 2: This is her trying to explain to her friend Rebecca why her plan to lie to Isaac will work. She's convinced that this is what will happen-and she's super proud of herself for thinking of it.
Line 3: This is her telling Bertram that she's having second doubts about lying to Isaac after telling him that a mural of his mother was a queen from centuries ago. She genuinely feels guilty about it, thinking he at least deserves to know about his mother.
Well, no! Bertram, I hate the royal family as much as you do. But if we lash out we’ll be punished. You need to control your temper.
Rebecca, think of how good this could be for Sirla! One tyrannical ruler gone, and the next one is a twelve-year old. He’ll be listening to his advisors no matter what!
It’s strange…I had no problem lying to him about other things but I feel really bad. I lied to him about his own mother!

Solomon is Isaac's father and the king of Sirla. He's concerned about his son's disappearance but tries not to show it to appear powerful. Other than that, he couldn't care less about the lower class in his kingdom.
Line 1: This is him announcing Isaac's coronation. He's full of pride and excitement for his son and wants the world to know it.
Line 2: This when Casimir asks him if he should send another search party for Isaac. Solomon's very tired but still urgently wants Isaac found.
Line 3: This is when Isaac comes back home. He's delighted to see him again, but is still upset that he ran away in the first place.

Ulric is Yvette and Bertram's father. He's very kind and humble but feels guilty that he can't give his children a better life. He's also very physically weak and is killed by Casimir.
Line 1: This is him being a typical parent, trying to keep control in his family by making Bertram apologize to Yvette for picking on her.
Line 2: This is him trying to calm down Solomon by distracting him with the fact that he attended his coronation before he lost his job.
Line 3: This is when he realizes that he's upset the royal family and tries to apologize so he can get away.
Bertram, apologize to your sister.

Rebecca is a close friend of Yvette's who she used to go to school with. She's sassy and dominant but sweet and actually has a bit of a crush on Isaac.
Line 1: This is her asking Yvette why and how she brought Prince Isaac into a tavern. She's very surprised but doesn't want to raise her voice and let everyone know.
Line 2: This is her trying to explain to Yvette why her plan won't work. She's genuinely worried about her friend and wants to convince her not to do this.
Line 3: This is her hinting to Isaac that she likes him. Other than her other sassy moments, this is one of her few sweet ones.
Alright, you’ve got some explaining to do because either I’m going crazy, or that’s Prince Isaac.
Yvette, Tobias is being taught to be a mini Solomon! It won’t change anything! Besides, Bertram is gonna strangle him as soon as he finds out. Then you’ll both be killed.

Tobias is Isaac's younger brother. He idolizes him and wants to spend time with him, but Isaac is often busy and annoyed by Tobias. Still, Tobias likes playing jokes on his brother to get even a little bit of attention from him.
Line 1: This is when he asks Isaac if he can go with him. Isaac says no, claiming that he needs some time to himself. This is Tobias' response.
Line 2: This is him explaining to Solomon the last place where he saw Isaac. He's reluctant to tell him since he wants to stay loyal to Isaac, but caves and tells him anyway.
Line 3: This is him explaining to Isaac how they used to be best friends when they were younger, hoping that he remembers.

…He was walking down the hall past curfew, and yes, I was too but that’s not important right now! He said he was going to take a walk through Sirla. I asked if I could go with him, he said no, and he left.

Casimir is the head of the royal guard in Sirla. He's endlessly loyal to the royal family and carries out most orders without hesitation.
Line 1. This is him announcing to the kingdom that Isaac's gone missing he's very serious about this.
Line 2: Solomon asks him if he thinks Isaac's been kidnapped, and this is his response. He's about to ask if he should send another search party when Solomon cuts him off.
Line 3: This is when he finds Isaac and is surprised to see that he doesn't remember anything so he spells it out for him.
I regret to inform you that Prince Isaac has disappeared. Search parties were sent two hours ago and are still looking. I ask you to help in our search in any way that you can. If any sign of the prince is found, you are to report it to the royal guard immediately. Any secrets kept will result in punishment. As you were.

Genevieve is Isaac and Tobias' late mother. She was actually well liked among the people of Sirla for her kind nature. She's also the first thing Isaac starts to remember about his life via hearing her voice in his head when seeing a mural of her.
Line 1: All her lines are heard by Isaac in his head, and all on her deathbed. She's trying to calm him down after the doctors have told him that she'll die.
Line 2: More of her trying to reassure Isaac
Line 3: Isaac here's this one after finding out he's prince, and this one has a much bigger impact since he's finally remembering.

Bertram is Yvette's older brother. He's not afraid to voice his opinion-at all. He'll say whatever he wants to whoever wants, and whenever he wants. However, he does care for Yvette and warms up to Isaac eventually.
Line 1: This is right after when his father dies, and he's more furious than sad. Yvette asks him to calm down, and he snaps.
Line 2: This is after he's introduced to Isaac, and becomes excited when he realizes how clueless he is. Please emphasize the word "that."
Line 3: This is after Yvette tells him that she's having doubts about lying to Isaac. He needs her to know that this was her idea, and she needs to follow through.
No, this is all their fault! He’s dead because of them! If they cared about us even a little bit, he’d still be alive and we wouldn’t be living in dirt!
