The Unhinged #1 (When We're Gone)
Project Overview
When We're Gone is about a disease based entirely on plants. Think of it like a zombie virus, but on steroids. Spider Lilies (A flower that symbolizes death) have mutated so they carry a disease known as NeuroHerbSyndrome (literally means Brain Plant). The disease enters the bloodstream of the host and works its way to their brain. It then takes complete control over the person and makes them go insane. They then attack any thing living in sight (besides plants of course). This story is about the survivors of this disease, as they do their best every day to keep their minds as their own.

Kyle Forest is seventeen years old. His friends are Luke and Katelyn. He was born and raised in California. His voice isn't that deep. It's more clear and he isn't very loud, unless he's angry. He is calm. He is overprotective and caring. Think of someone that just wants the best for those around him. He is very analytical and smart, although he doesn't make it a big deal. When thinking of which voice to use for Kyle, try to keep your words steady and confident. Be clear and sure of yourself. And don't go too deep.
Family is everything to me. And I mean it. I'm not going to let anyone take the people that I care about, away from me. You can say that I'm being selfish, and maybe I am, but I don't care. I need these people.
(tired and in pain) It's going to be alright. (beat) We just need to push a little bit further, just a few more tries and...everything will be alright
That's enough! (beat) Not one step closer! You hear me! (beat) No one hurts them, not one person! (yells with anger) You just had to have it your way, huh? Everything has to be your way, your way, your damn way! (beat) Well I hope you're happy, because none of the rest of us are
Katelyn is seventeen years old. She is more bronze than brains. Her voice is clear, but not very loud. She isn't as sure of herself as the other characters, but she also isn't the most unsure. She is, overall, a very strong person physically. She is quick and untrusting. She is careful with the words that she says, unless she is angry. Her voice is average, it isn't very deep and it isn't very high.
There goes another...and another....oh! and another. Kyle is all this really necessary?
He's dying! (Beat) We should be doing something! I should be doing something! (Beat) We can't let this happen!
I...uh...thought you might need these. (short pause) Look, I'm sorry. I didn't know about your parents. I didn't know that Blake and Angelica weren't...you know. I just (Beat) I just wanted to say sorry, okay?
Laura is fifteen years old. When thinking of her character and voice, think something along the lines of Clementine from the Walking Dead Season 3 game. She is an orphan, that is being 'raised' by Blake and Angelica. She has a pet dog named Lucky (German Shepherd). She has been hardened by the infection and wants nothing more than her own survival.
Where will we go when they're gone? (beat) I...I don't see or know anymore places that we could be safe at.
I should have assumed this would happen...I should have known that it was only a matter of time before things...got bad again. I should have known that once again, it would be because of me.
Don't you see what's happening here? Don't you get guys get it? This is our one chance to make this right, our one chance to fix everything, and you guys are prepared to just throw it all away like it's nothing. Well fine, I'm going though. I'm taking this chance! With or without you!
Blake is thirty-two. He was raised in the country. He isn't a redneck, but he has the accent of one. He is married to Angelica, and is the guardian of Laura. He served in the military before the infection started. He is tough. He is brave. He is confident. He has a strong build and a strong voice. He is also very experienced.
Don't get discouraged kid. Things happen for a reason. Even that. So just smile. Life goes one step at a time

Think it's my time to just, call a quits. That means I'm sure as hell gonna make sure that I keep my head screwed on and that light in my brain on. Things are about to happen, and they aren't very good things
Angelica is thirty-one. She is very self absorbed. She only cares about herself and the things that influence her. She is married to Blake. She is the guardian of Laura. She has a very strong voice. She is very confident in her abilities, which is believed to be her largest character flaw. She has a slightly deeper voice. She is also very commanding.

We could leave, Laura. We could go and find somewhere safer than here. Don't you see that, this is our only chance
Elizabeth ten years old. She is the younger sister of Luke. She has a squeaky and high pitched voice. She complains a lot and wants things to go her way. She is also very sweet and can tell when people are hurt or upset. She is mostly peaceful and understanding. Her voice should be soft and welcoming. It should also be clear.
