The Shadow S3E1 - The Air Freight Fracas!
Project Overview
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I recently uploaded the Season 2 Finale onto YouTube (Murder in the Sun!) and told that the series will be on break until June of 2018. That said, I am having the main voice actors and actress' have their break and focus on their life. Me on the other hand.... I've decided to get ahead of schedule and begin working on Season 3 Episodes! (I don't really have much to do besides work)
The first Episode of Season 3 is called The Air Freight Fracas!
The Plot is that a former gangster (Johnny Fresno) who has gone straight and now runs an air freight business is being pressured by an old friend (Harry McCarty) who wants to use the freight business as a front for a smuggling operation. He tries to "persuade" Johnny by telling him he needs protection right after one of Johnny's workers', Eddie Sulkin, was beaten up and rushed to the hospital. Before Eddie was sent away, he mumbled the name "Shipwreck". With this as the only clue, Lamont Cranston must find out who and why Eddie was attacked....

Harry McCarty was once in a gang with Johnny Fresno, but after Johnny was convinced that he should do good and changed his ways (Later owning a Air Freight Buisness); Harry wants Johnny to make him his partner so while Johnny works the legitimate business, Harry can work on illigal smuggling on the side.

waterfront. Come on in Johnny.Help yourself to a drink Johnny. We can talk about old times. How’s the
freight business going over at the rail yard?Trying not to sound obvious] No kiddin’, Johnny. Say, looks like your gonna need protection so these things won’t happen…. You need a partner, Johnny… Think of it Johnny, you and me together. Nobodies gonna make trouble of us. That’s what I want to talk to you about…
[Calm] Johnny, how do I know. Things happen, you know that. Sometimes things get much worse…. Think it over Johnny. We’ll talk again tomorrow. [Quick Pause] Yeah, you need protection from your business. I think you ought-a make me your partner…
Johnny Fresno. Right on time. Oh, meet Shipwreck, one of my advisors. Say hello to Mr. Fresno, Shipwreck.
Simple. You build a nice front. Legitimate business, coast to coast. You’re smart. So, Johnny, how soon you figure we can make it really pay off? Contraband. Smuggling. You and me together, Johnny, we can make it big.
[Annoyed] What? Lousy cops!

Once in a gang with Harry McCarty, Johnny Fresno was convinced by the Shadow himself to change his ways. Once leaving the gang, he became successful in the Air Freight Buisness, even hiring his friend Eddie who was also in the same gang.

Yeah, I left word. [Grabs the phone] Hello? What? Well see that he gets the best of care. [Pause] Right. [Hangs up, looks at Harry] One of my boys just got ruffed up, Harry.
[Thinking Harry knows something about it] Who ruffed Eddie up…!
[Annoyed] Always somethin’ happenin’ when you try to go straight.
If I don’t, I may as well close up shop. You can’t fight it. I know that. Sooner or later, this had to happen.
I never carried one Harry, not even in the old days.
And here I thought we were going to have a cozy little chat.
Never better Commissioner.

Eddie Sulkin was once in the same mob with Johnny Fresno, but after seeing him becoming a changed man; Eddie wanted a fresh start as well. So he quit the mob and wanted to work for Johnny as a law-abiding citizen. Later on Eddie got a unexpected visit from a former gang member "Shipwreck", who alter on beat up Eddie to send a message to Johnny Fresno.

[Picks up the phone] Fresno Overland Freight Agency. [Quick Pause] Yeah... [Pause, cheerful] Yeah! [Quick Pause] Yes sir, It’s been picked up. It's already on the road. [Pause] Yeah. [Quick Pause] Yep, your welcome. [Hangs up] Yes sir, can I..... [Shocked] Shipwreck...!
[Nervous] I'm workin' here...
[Nervous] Johnny's clean!
[Hesitantly] Say, what are you doing here, Shipwreck?
[Nervous] What do ya mean, Shipwreck?
Rough me up! What for? I done nothin’!
No! Please!
[Sound as if getting punched multiple times]
[Mumble] Ship... Shipwreck.... [Pass-out]

Shipwreck Malone is a thug who is currently working for Harry McCarty. But after one last job, he was going to go away for a while (To Hawaii) until the Shadow visits him and tell Shipwreck that he alone will take the blame for assaulting Eddie Sulkin.
[Cheerful] Eddie! Eddie Sulkin! Eddie, they said you quit the mob! Watcha doin’ in Fresno’s office?
Clean? Johnny Fresno clean? You oughta be a comic, Eddie.
Well... I'm ah, doin' somebody a favor. After this, I'm going off someplace to take it easy.
[Punching] Too bad it had to be you! [Stops, whispers] See Eddie, that's all it has to be...
Hawaii, here I come! Yeah! Yeah, me on one a’dem islands. I can see it now.
[Shocked] Oh no! Not you!
That’s where you’re wrong Shadow. Eddie won’t finger me. He wouldn’t do dat. Dat’s not da way we do things. So get lost, I gotta finish packin’.
It sounds like Mr. Fresno don’t want you as a partner, maybe he oughtta have his mind changed.
(Struggling) Ah…somethin’s got ahold of me!

Commissioner Weston is a wealthy, self-important, middle-aged man who is the commissioner of New York City's police department.
His attitude towards The Shadow has changed over the years. At first he blamed the elusive crime fighter for several of the crimes being committed, but he slowly built a kind of trust with the mysterious "voice." Especially sense on numerous occasions, The Shadow saved his life from revenge killings from escaped convicts.

What crime Mr. Cranston? Ah, yes Sargent, what is it?
See what I mean Mr. Cranston? All right, Sergeant, let’s go to what we call the scene of the crime.

[Goes to Eddie] Sulkin, Who did it? Why? Who was it?
[Fading in] All right! Hold it! Police, grab them!
You OK Fresno?
You’re alone?
I should have known you were here. All right McCarty, you and your muscle friend better get the advice of counsel, because we have a lot of questions for you.

Shrevie is a New York City cab driver who often shuttles Lamont Cranston, and his lovely companion Margo Lane, about town.
Occasionally, Shrevie will call Cranston "boss," however, the cabbie is not an agent of The Shadow's, nor a personal driver for Cranston. He is only a friend.

Oh, me, Mr. Cranston? No, I wouldn’t forget, I wouldn't. Hey, what's with Eddie Sulkin? One of the other hackys said that Eddie been beaten up, he said.
Sounds like someone wants to sell Johnny Fresno protection like in the old days, it sounds.
Shipwreck? What made you think of him, what made you, Mr. Cranston? Did Eddie put the finger on Shipwreck, did he put?
Mr. Cranston, he lives at the hotel St. John on Lowe St. Three blocks from here, he lives.
[Chuckle] Oh me? I just pick up information, I pick up. That's all Mr. Cranston.
[Cheerful] Sure!
