Project Overview
Think you've seen this casting call before? You probably have! Originally posted by Anonymous (who could no longer work on the project, due to computer failure), the project was due and so here we are again!
"The October Faction" details the adventures of
retired monster-hunter Frederick Allan and his family... which include a
thrill-killer, a witch, and a warlock. Because sometimes crazy is the
glue that binds a family together.
All lines are from the first #1
The mothers' line, Dante, and Merle aren't from issue 1.
You
can take any line from the comic book and use those instead of the ones
provided as the audition lines. You might have a better understanding
for the context of the lines if you view the comic book.
This comic book does have somewhat of a dark theme, so think The Addams Family and Munsters.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU VIEW THE FIRST ISSUE FOR THE OTHER LINES TO GET THE FEEL OF THE CHARACTER!
There are a lot of main characters and barely any extras.

Young Adult - Teen voice required.
Saunders: Miss Vivian. You're home early. How was the last day of school?
"Hi, Saunders. I skipped out when everybody started hugging each other and taking pictures. It was a selfie apocalypse."
Saunders: You are going to the graduation, right?
"Pfft. Did you just meet me? No way. I hope I never see any of them again, ever in my life."
*Make Some Fighting Noises*
Saunders is an older lady, so expect a middle age to senior voice. She's the home's maid, but can be less than prim and proper.
"Miss Vivian. You're home early. How was the last day of school?"
"You are going to the graduation, right?"
Vivian: Where's Geoff?
"He is in his room with the door locked. If he doesn't come out soon, I will kick it down."
Deloris is Frederick's wife and former partner. You'll be asked to make fighting sounds, and change the age at which you portray her, due to their being flashback sequences. Don't read the lines labeled Fred: when doing your audition, but respond to them naturally.
Fred: I really am turning into an old man. Either way, you gotta admit, that was a great first date.
"We used to be a team, Fred. I miss that."
Fred: Is that why you meet with Merle Cope and broke into my storage unit?
"I'm sorry Fred. I didn't know what I was doing. I was desperate. "
Fred: Desperate to get yourself killed? There's a reason I locked that thing away forever.
"No, Fred.. desperate to get your attention."
Motherfucker.
Fredericks' old partner. Also he's a werewolf.
You might need to make some monsters noises.
Don't read the line labeled Fred:, just respond naturally to it.
So why are you still working? We both made enough to live pretty well for several lifetimes.
So when did you turn into an old man?
Fred: I would have thought you joining their little club would have eased tensions.
"Ha ha. No way. To them, I'm a bastard traitor, they came at me twice as hard now."
Young Adult - Teen
He finished High-School last year at the start of the comic. Geoff is very calm and mild-mannered, unless he gets excited.
At the end of your lines please make some fighting sounds.
"Hello, Philip. I'm just picking up some herbs and roots for an experiment. And it's gay pride, not just gay parade. "
I forgot. I am so sorry. There were
four of you not too long ago. How could I forget? Mark, Jonah, Rick...
all dead, but you survived. That was lucky, wasn't it? I know you lied. I
know you were driving.Motherfucker.
Middle Age
Merle is going to be a condescending asshole. Make sure you take that into account.
"I thought
about hiding and watching you fall from afar, but really, where's the
fun in that? Just like you stood by and watched innocent lives be
destroyed, I want a front row seat to your downfall and, with luck, your
death. "Geoff: Motherf--
"I think I told your wife that when I beat her senseless."
"I think that about covers it. Unless you need to hear more to believe I mean it. "
"Such drama. Our business is concluded. I leave with a clean conscience... but you have to live knowing you screwed over your partner and the only person who ever had any faith in you."
Young Adult - Teen
Geoffs' old High School bully. (Preferably, I'm looking for a Boston/New Yorker style that isn't too excessively overdone.)
"Well, if it ain't creepy Geoff. What'choo got in the bags, Geoff, supplies for your own gay parade?"
"It's Phil, not "Philip," you freak. "
"You know I lost my foot ball Scholarship, you bastard!"
Young Adult
Possibly go with a raspy voice for this one. His head is locked in a tin-can after all.
Your father killed my father.
I can do this all night, but he dies if you come too close. Like I was close when you killed my dad.
I mean it. I'm gonna kill him, so stay back.
