"Under Her Eye" - Skyrim Quest Mod

"Under Her Eye" - Skyrim Quest Mod

Project Overview

Under Her Eye is the main quest associated with the new follower mod, Avenoir Scry-Bourn.

Avenoir has lived in hiding in Skyrim for some years, having escaped from a life of political pawnship at the hands of the Thalmor, owing to her inexplicable magic abilities. After meeting the Dragonborn, she is convinced into seeking out her childhood sweetheart, who was kidnapped by the Thalmor after her escape - but who she now believes to be at large in Skyrim once more. Together, they follow a trail of Loreius' letters and clues, hoping to unravel the mystery of his reappearance.

For the purposes of this casting call, Avenoir has already been cast.

PLEASE READ BEFORE AUDITIONING:

1. Show all the emotion you can. Make the character feel real and dynamic.

2. Please include AT LEAST 2 different readings of each audition line.

I will be much less inclined to cast you if you don't do this, as variety and nuance is very important to me as a director. Should you be cast, you WILL be asked to do multiple takes of every line regardless.

3. Be willing to commit to deadlines and re-direction.

4. Decent microphone quality is a MUST!!!

Even if you're a brilliant performer, if your mic quality isn't high enough (even after noise removal) I sadly won't be able to cast you.

5. While the characters themselves have set pronouns, every role is open to any actor who is interested in auditioning for them. I really look forward to hearing what you can do <3

6. Please ensure you have a Discord you're willing to share should you be cast: I find it the easiest way to keep in touch with my actors, and I always offer live direction/rehearsals to any cast member that would like them.

  • Casting today

Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned - can't say I was expecting such a tidal wave for this project, and I'm absolutely elated! I'll be going about re-listening and, ultimately, casting today, so bear with me in the meantime. Once casting is complete and actors have confirmed their roles, I will make sure to give feedback to everyone who asked for it. Thank you all again, it's been really awesome to see all your interpretations of these characters. Till then!

Loreius Anthrillian

Role assigned to: Paul Warren

Loreius was Avenoir's saving grace throughout her time with the Thalmor. The son of Alinor's Chief Illusionist, Loreius was one of the few people permitted to spend time with Avenoir. He himself is highly gifted with Illusion magic, once cited to surpass his father - until he fell for Avenoir. He suffered great punishment at the hands of the Thalmor for helping her escape, which inevitably changed him from the wide-eyed mage he'd once been.

Loreius is relatively smooth-spoken, gentle and charismatic, but has a darker side now that feels a little too close to the surface for comfort. He seems completely well intended and kind, as Avenoir remembers, but it's sometimes hard for him to shake the demons of his past. It's important to note, Loreius is NOT outright evil. He genuinely wants to be a good, normal person, and his tone should reflect that kind of innocence until the second his dark side kicks in against his will.

As an Altmer, Loreius requires an RP British Accent.
Please only audition if you can pull this off convincingly, or are native. Being native myself, I can near always tell.

  • (quick, evasive, awkward - just been caught in a bit of a lie and is trying to play it off)

Oh, n-nothing! I don’t know. Weeks on the run will do things to the brain – not to mention the unbearable cold in Skyrim. How can anyone have a single clear thought round here? *nervous laugh*   (pause, then more upbeat and playful)   Well, regardless – lucky she does have you, or she might never have made it! Powers or not, her sense of direction is deplorable...

  • (charming, upbeat, sincere)

Enough of that! This ought to be beautiful – euphoric! – like the grove we’re in. Why don’t we, uh... have some wine and buck up, already? I’d been saving it for afterward, but I rather think some liquid courage is in order all round.

  • (dark, venomous, quietly manic)

*almost mad laugh, cackle-like* They opened my eyes, friend! Showed me who she really was. And I thought it would end me, the pain – the burning – but I was born for more than simple tortures. That’s what they told me. And I intend to prove it.

(Combat taunts - aggressive, shouting, threatening)

None will even remember your name!

    I’ll see you BURN!

Come on, come on - this is PITIFUL!

Saffne

cast offsite

A kindly old Redguard woman the player finds outside her house. Her two daughters were kidnapped and soul trapped by necromancers returning from their travels, and Saffne tasks the player with bringing the gems home to her.

Saffne has a serious love for nature. Her house is utterly overgrown in 'harmony' with trees and vines. She's gentle yet frail, but still has quite a sense of humour. She's seen a little too much in life to be truly shaken anymore, but the loss of her daughters has had a profound effect upon her emotions.

Pronunciations:

Saff-nuh

Sh-ay

Seh-reh-nell

  • (thoughtful)

There was a blade as well, my eldest always carried. Ebony, sharp as anything. No guarantee those necromancers still have it, but all the same... If you can find it, I'd gladly bestow it on you in thanks. Shae and Serenell would never object to that.

  • (hesitant, sad, sentimental)

My daughters, they... well, vex it all, they're dead. Or close to, I never quite understood the magic... They were wanderers. Travelled every inch of Tamriel together just to prove they could. So stubborn, like you wouldn't believe (small, sad laugh)

  • (bitter, angry: responding to "What happened to them?")

Those Snowhawk necromancers, that's what. Swooped down in the night as my girls returned home from the day in Morthal. A guard came by next morning to tell me how he watched as their souls were trapped in some great gems. Coward barely lifted a finger to stop them...

Brina

Role assigned to: M.K. Moretti

Brina is an aspiring bard the player finds crying outside the College in Solitude. She had been planning on auditioning for the college with a song she had written herself, but her music book was stolen, along with all her other possessions, by some bandits on the road.

Brina is generally a sweet person, but has quite a temper if provoked. She cares deeply about music and has never considered another life for herself: should the player suggest this, she will turn bitter and confrontational pretty much immediately.

  • (sincere, soft, sweet)

Not every song in the world can be happy, or they'd cease to make us smile. As long as music makes you feel something, then I think it worth playing. (Beat, then more playful) Besides, I'd like to think my sights are set a little higher than the local tavern.

  • (irritable, then more sincere)

Clearly you've never been a writer. It's not so easy as that. But I was so proud of that piece. Even if I were inspired to re-write it, it would never be the same. It wouldn't feel right.

  • (thoughtful, as if trying to remember something she's almost forgotten)

They said... something about a bridge...? These bandits have an arm across near all of the Reach, but I've heard whispers of a den hollowed out beneath a waterfall...

Kreek

Role assigned to: Alexponential

Kreek is a giant mudcrab who lives alone on an island. He was a childhood 'friend' of Avenoir's, having learned to speak (poorly) because of her. Many years on, Kreek is feeling lonely and dreams of finding love. He tasks the player with retrieving various shiny objects for him so he can create a romantic offering to Dibella - whom he calls Dibe, unable to get the grasp of her full name.

Kreek is very shy and excitable, speaking usually pretty fast, in third person, and with broken grammar. He's a bit like a parrot, repeating his own name a lot and having a limited vocabulary, but overall is actually very sweet and endearing. He sees the player as a new best friend, and is just pleased to have someone who wants to help him.

I imagine his voice to be pretty high pitched, jittery, perhaps a little raspy. Kreek, overall, is pretty open to interpretation. Just have fun with it!

Note: 'Dibe' is pronounced Dih-bee

  • (frightened, trying to talk his way out of being eaten - which he thinks the player is here to do)

No eats us, no! Kreek no tasty - not at all!

  • (wistful, almost sad - responding to "So you want to find love?")

A lot, a lot. Kreek want love so bad it hurt, all through his shell… But Kreek have nothing to give Dibe; nothing to asks with, see? Kreek need people-hands to find things for him, so Kreek can ask in proper way. Make offering, make shhh… shrine… Yes, shrine! Prove he is for heart, completely!

  • (The player has just presented him with a pearl. He's practically crying with happiness)

So good to Kreek, so good to Kreek! Pearlies like moon! Yes, yes, Kreek sees often... Beautiful! Kreek say thanks!
