The Ending of February

The Ending of February

Project Overview

February 2nd, 2020. Its groundhog day in the small area of Waterfort, Connecticut. The weather has been getting colder, reaching new lows of the season. But today, everyone wears their gloves and hats as they  gather at the town hall. Adults and children wait for the mayor of the city to bring out the groundhog; but in the small radio station on the edge of town, sits Kenneth Obermen, awaiting the news to share for the people that are tuning in. He gets news that the mayor has walked out.

He announced that due to unexplained causes, the groundhog has died.

They say that's what started the end of the world.

Hello everyone! Thank you for checking this out.

To get things straight, this will be a podcast. I'm planning on it being 27 episodes, which last 30 to potentially 60 minutes. I can not exactly give out the ideas of what happens in this podcast, for that would spoil the entire story, but I hope that short little beginning I wrote caught your attention. For this, I will only need one voice actor, but I will need some editors, and eventually, an animator for a little short at the end of the story (I might get rid of this part, its a work in progress.)\

Heads up: This will be a very small group. Maybe 5 people or less. This is NOT a paid project. I would pay if I had the money but i;m saving up right now, and looking for a decent job. I possibly will be posting it on itunes, and if we somehow make money in any way, it will be evenly distributed.

I have a few rules for auditioning.:

Have a matured voice. I would prefer not having a twelve year old running the radio station.

Have a CLEAR microphone. Preferably with no background noises.

Have experience in voice acting. To put things in a nutshell, Kenneth will go through some things that people might not be able to pull off, and I would prefer to let the people tuning into our podcast to experience it as if they were in the world as well.

Be alright with mature language.

I think that's all I have for you, kind sir :)

Now, to everyone auditioning:

NO HATE.

I can not stress that enough. Please do not start anything here, or anywhere else.

Kenneth is a very energetic man. His voice can be either middle aged, or young adult. He is rather optimistic about everything, but at times, reality just hits him in the face like a brick.

  • Hello to everyone tuning in this morning! Today is a rather special day for us in Waterfort, and everyone else in America. Its Groundhog's day! Haha. [Pause, as if flipping through papers] Before we get to that, this morning we have a high of thirty five, and a forty seven this evening. Much better than last week I must say. The rest of the week is suppose to get even higher. I think its time to drop the coats and get out our bathing suites! [He chuckled for a while at his own joke, but soon realizes that he has to continue] In twenty minutes, the mayor should be bringing out old Henry! How many years is he now? Five? My, is he getting old.

  • [A sort of defeated voice]

How much longer? [pause] Im pretty sure im the only one left here. We're out of water, so i'll have to rely on the snow. Thanks a lot /Waterfort/. [longer pause] Jesus Christ, who am I even talking to? Im pretty sure no one is even listening. Yet I still talk.

[softly, as if hes rubbing his hand over his face] Shit...

I need someone to help me with the details of every episode. I have a base set up, we just need to add to it. An idea I had was to let the voice actor go on his own once and awhile, to get that realistic feeling.

Please leave some work you have done, or a short script

Or just pretty much anything you think is suitable.

I'm looking for a small little jingle that we can play in the beginning of almost every episode. I'm looking for it in three different ways. All of them will be the same jingle, but different in a way.

The first one will be happy and cheery.

The second will be happy, but in a way its losing it cheery feeling. More slow and melancholy.

Imagine the world was coming to an end, that's what the jingle should somehow sound like for the third one.
