The Dreamer's City - Audio Drama

Project Overview

PROJECT INFO

Production title: The Dreamer’s City

Production Type: Independent

Project length: Multi-season series, 12+ episodes

Project format: Audio drama podcast

Compensation: No

KEY DATES

Auditions: March 25, 2018 - April 30, 2018

Recording Starts: late May, 2018

The Story

The Dreamer’s City is an upcoming large-cast, episodic audio drama podcast slated to be released mid-2018. It follows a group of people who meet after having been dropped unceremoniously into a hellish city that wants nothing more than to absorb them into becoming the terror it throws at them. While trying to find a way out and fighting to stay sane against the world, they also have to fight to stay alive and free from cults and groups who would enslave them.

The Cast

There are a total of six (6) lead voice roles and numerous (20+) additional supporting roles needed for the first season (and beyond). Each role is expanded upon below, as well as the sides required for the audition.

The Production

Actors should be comfortable recording in high quality with direction. All roles are unpaid as the production will be released for free, but credit and cross promotion is very willingly given to any cast member via social media and on the show’s website. In the event there is revenue generated from the production in any form, we believe in paying the talented people who brought the show to life.

Recording Schedule

Actors should be available after May 22nd to record a full season over the course of a few weeks. We will work with you on timing if you are right for the part.

Please be aware that certain roles are recurring across multiple future seasons and the preference is to (of course) have the same actor portray them across season lines. If this is a concern for you, please make mention of that when you audition.

Casting Notes

Feel free to submit auditions for any role you feel you are comfortable portraying true to life. All characters in The Dreamer’s City (with only 1-2 noted exceptions) are to be read naturally and not as a caricature.

The story is contingent on the multicultural characters within it. While there may only be 1-2 roles that you are suited for, please pass this onto any actors you feel would be suited for the other characters listed below.

Similarly, the creative team values representation in all forms in casting and will strive to cast characters in line with their current iterations, but will consider noncritical character adjustments.

The story has immense room for casting accommodation due to the nature of the world, but some storylines are contingent on certain identifications and ethnicities. These will be noted in the character breakdowns below.

  • (emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed) If I start crying now I won't have any tears left for later. There’s so much I don’t understand and this craziness never stops coming at me.

  • You can take a shower if you want. There are new clothes in those bags that will probably fit you. (yawns) I'm going to head to bed. You can take whichever room you want. When we get up I'll grab a shower and we'll head out.

The sooner you get used to this place and what it isn't, the better off you'll be. But I adapted pretty fast. (she chuckles) And I like candy a lot. That helps. Free candy keeps me happy and sane.
