The Backrooms: Story Mode (A Visual Novel)
Project Overview
An original Choose Your Own Adventure visual novel, based on the story of The Backrooms. One day, the Player falls out of their reality into The Backrooms. This game is about the venture through the vast Levels and rooms, and meeting companions along the way. There are multiple endings that the Player can obtain through playing.
This will be a fully voiced visual novel! I've been working on it for a bit and I think it's ready to be cast for voice actors.
-Actors will not be paid, it's just something to have fun with!
-It'll be PG-13, but only because heavy gore and frightening imagery will be involved. The game is not suited for children or anyone who is queasy.
The roles I need to cast are both voice actors and background artists. Don't be afraid to audition for multiple characters!

Friend is a mysterious character who you can become friends with in the game. He's a corrupted Void Entity who has been trapped in Level 1 for a very long time. He was once like the Player. He is a major guide/companion in the game.
I imagine him sounding like a teen - young adult, but you can use whatever voice you want if you're auditioning. I'm open to anything. Also he should sound like a fun, good friend! I will add glitched effects over your voice for the final product.
(Whispering, cautious) SHH, she might hear your fear! Follow me, quickly. Follow the arrows.
(Ominous, serious) You had so much potential... Why couldn't you have listened to me? You just did what everyone else has done. I thought you trusted me. I thought I was... Well, your Friend. I'm not just another monster entity in The Backrooms. Not if I don't have to be.
...But I can't let you see what's on the other side of this Hub tunnel. I'm sorry. I wish this could have gone differently. We could have had so much fun together.
(Persuading) You're stuck here now too, you know. And I'm not sure what you'll find if you go out there! So personally, I wouldn't suggest exploring... If you don't want to leave, I'd be SUPER okay with it if you stayed here... I mean, we could have so much fun together, new friend? Bud? Pal? We could spend the rest of forever in Level 1, eavesdropping on Outposts and... staying put... and being safe...
L'minal is an angel character who takes a physical form as an ornament. She is a character you can become friends with. She never reveals her backstory, but she is known to be able to see into your mind and also into alternate realities. She acts as a main guardian/guide in the story.
I imagine her having a very calm and soft female voice. The age doesn't matter.
(Reassuring) It's going to be okay. You're only lost until someone finds you... And here I am.
(Calm) I know what you've done. Everything. Yet, I still love you more than life itself. I'm so very thankful I met you. Now go on, get out of here. Before he finds you.
(Panicked, distressed) What's happening? Hello? Can anyone hear me? HELLO? THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT REALITY! THIS IS NOT RIGHT! HELP!
I'm gonna need a background artist! Honestly, I'll give you mostly free reign with what you would like to draw as a background, but I will always give you an image to base the atmosphere around.
Say something you think would fit
Bug is a character you can meet by taking a certain route. She's very energetic and pure.
You'll need to be able to have a convincing young child voice, obviously, as Bug appears to be around 5-7 years old. That's the only requirement though :]
(Happy) BOOO! Did I get ya? Are you scared? Hehehe, I see it on your face, buddy, you're TERRIFIED of me!
(Confused) What are you doing here? Nobody's ever came to play with me before. Are you bad? Like the last woman that came through here? Wow, that was crazy weird! I had to hide in the hole under the stairs.
Pick a flower! Any flower! Don't worry, they won't hurt ya. Hydrangeas, blue bonnets, cacti... Just don't pick the sunflower. He'll know if you do.
Mickie is an antagonist. They chase Player through the child's level.
They should be taunting and horrifying, but also... fun? If that makes sense? The only thing I can really compare their voice to is the Alternate outside of Mark's door from the Mandela Catalogue. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I highly suggest watching it for a glimpse of the voice I'm looking for. Another character I could compare their voice to is Sun from FNAF Security Breach. We just need that unhinged feeling, alright?
(Taunting) Happy birthhhhddaayy! I've got balloooons! I'd really like to give them to youuuu...
(Yelling) YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SEE THE PARTY ROOM YET! COME BACK HERE! YOU WERE NOT INVIIIIIIIIITED!
Xenon is an antagonist the Player can meet in a certain route. He is an attacker you must hide from in the game.
I don't mind if Xenon has a masculine or feminine or ambiguous voice, you'll just need to be able to sound literally insane while shouting utter nonsense. JD style ;]
I will add glitched effects over the finished product.

Atonement is a mushroom Entity the Player can meet in a certain route. She is brutally honest with a hint of sarcasm, and very self conscious.
I imagine her sounding like an adult woman, and that is the only requirement.
(Confronting) What are you looking at? It's rude to stare, you know.
(Pushy) Walk along with me through the forest. Now. What will we see? It is unexplored. That's why you should come with me, right now.
(Angryish? Jealous?) You are a divine soul! A grand thing! Are you dead? Are you dead? Are you dead? You are bound by chains to this godforsaken place!
