THE ALLOSAURIAD Audio Drama

THE ALLOSAURIAD Audio Drama

Project Overview

THE ALLOSAURIAD is an upcoming, episodic, audio
drama podcast from the creator of the iTunes 5-star rated mini-series, The Lovecraft Covenant. It tells the
story of an eclectic group of near-future Americans (from the year 2022) who
find themselves trapped in the time of the dinosaurs. Ill-equipped,
disoriented, and scared out of their minds, they must band together to survive,
while slowly coming to suspect that they are not alone in the prehistoric past.

There will be a total of eight principle voice roles, two of whom do not survive to the end of the 1st season. I've filled all roles except the ones listed here. Hoping to get the project under way after the holidays, in early 2018.

Voice and character description
Ziggy is a mid-to-late 20s trans bisexual male, preferably with a mezzo-soprano speaking voice. He is a culinary entrepreneur and LGBTQ+ activist from Washington, D.C., where he runs a traveling food pop-up that also serves as a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth. He is engaged to his love, Freddie, and recently got insurance-approved for trans surgery (meaning he is still pre-op when he gets switched to dinosaur times). Ziggy prides himself on his culinary skills, and has a personality that is equal parts compassion and toughness. He’s been thinking long-term of running for political office someday.

NOTE: I would strongly prefer to give this role to a trans male of the appropriate voice type, someone whose lived experience is similar to Ziggy's.

  • (NARRATION)

The day it happened had, up to that moment,
been one of the best of my life. I'd just gotten insurance approval for
my transition surgery. My love, Freddie, had just become my fiancee
the week before. And I was on my way to the roll-out of my
pop-up, TransAmerican Treats, a roving comfort food tent that also
functioned as a roving safe space for LGBTQ+ youth. I'd worked so hard
and so long on those dreams, I barely ever thought of anything else. I
was finally becoming the man I'd always wanted to be. So, of course,
nature, or the gods, or whoever, or whatever was behind what happened
had to go and punish me.

    (BEAT)

It's a good thing I was carrying knives.

    (INTERRUPTING)

But here's something you haven't considered, oh
mighty hunter. I'm a chef, like you noticed. So it wasn't just my ring
and my phone I lost back there. I had a full set of knives wrapped in
my pack, too. I dropped the rest of them when I went for this one.
