Project Overview
Hello there! You can call me Loe. He/Him pronouns, please. This is my first project on Casting Call Club, so I'm a little new to the process of, well, everything. However, I intend to go about this with professionalism and diligence, and hopefully all you wonderful people will be able to put up with me.
I am in the process of creating a YouTube audio/podcast series called Get Off My Shoulder. It is partially a slice of life, supernatural, and comedy all wrapped up into one big creative abomination. As of right now, I have the script written for the first (pilot) episode, character descriptions, and a basic idea of how the rest of the story will carry on from there.
Since my life could be less stressful, I'm planning to work on one episode every month or two, depending on how long it takes me to word vomit a script into creation. I'm not sure what the length of the series will be, but a positive response from the audience would definitely up my motivation.
There are a total of three lead characters, and every episode might consist of a mixture of reappearing supporting/minor characters. All voice actors will be credited at the end of each video. Regardless of whether or not I find another writer to help with the scripts, casual feedback from the VAs would be much appreciated. Basically, if you're willing to assist, I'll gladly accept it.
Requirements for Auditioning
- Be able to properly express the intended emotion behind every word.
- For each line, speak it several times over in different ways so I can get a sense of your voice.
- Please be fully committed to the project if you so choose to audition.
- You must have a good microphone to use while recording, so no echoing/static-y/muffled audio.
- Be willing to work with me. If I need you to re-record a line in a different way, please don't get offended. Patience is all I ask.
Warning!
This series contains vulgar language and might potentially include some harsher topics (i.e. depression, suicide, etc.). Although since I, personally, don't take pleasure in going into detail about such things, said subjects will be discussed moderately and with respect.
Without further ado, I give you the basic plot.
Have you ever watched those old cartoons where one of the characters is trying to make a decision, and a tiny little angel and demon appear on their shoulders to tell them what to do? Yeah? Well, me neither.
My name is Clove, and thanks to my asshole of a brain, my consciences have become living, breathing people.
To put it simply, they're annoying as hell.
Words to know!
Companions: Tutelary spirits that exist inside all humans from the moment they are born to the moment they die. Companions originate from a person's soul and guide their emotions by convincing them to do either "good" or "bad" things. They always work in pairs of righteous and iniquitous.
Reliant: A human who hosts a pair of companions. They normally are not aware of their companions' influence.

A tired and moody enby who just wants his companions to leave him alone and isn't afraid to admit it. She doesn't care about pronouns, so they alternate from time to time depending on who is speaking. She's a bit of a loner, and she doesn't have many people to talk to, thus resulting in some implied depression/anxiety. Although he doesn't get much sleep at night because of his companions' bickering, he is secretly grateful for having them around.
Likes: Coffee and sarcasm.
Dislikes: Annoying people.

(Angry) "STOP THROWING THE FUCKING TOMATOES!"
(Deadpan) "You can stretch a lot of things. Like taffy. And my patience."
(Starts off sarcastic and gradually becomes more somber) "It may come as a surprise to you, but nobody at school actually knows my name. Sure, some of them know the name that's legally in the system, the one my parents gave me when I was an infant who couldn't think for myself, but that one isn't mine."
Clove's iniquitous companion who got turned into a human. He tries to convince Clove to do "bad". Tross is smug and conniving, but he can be surprisingly charismatic in social situations. One of the few things capable of rousing an honest response from him is when he is labeled as the stereotypical "evil" companion.
Likes: Nicknames.
Dislikes: Being referred to as “evil.”

(Smug) "You can't be so uptight all the time, Al. It's bad for your digestive system."
(Desperate) "No, wait! Please don't go!"
(Sounds joking but should be genuine) "Look, it's not like I'm gonna make you go and murder an old lady. I can't get you to do anything you don't already want to do. You're not somebody who wants to go around hurting people for no reason. So, in short, I'M not somebody who wants to hurt people for no reason."
Clove's righteous companion who also got turned into a human. He tries to convince Clove to do "good". Alba is a worrier, and he is easily flustered by vulgar or violent things. However, he is quick to jump into action if such things threaten Clove's wellbeing. When provoked enough, he can have quite a temper.
Likes: Plants, especially cacti.
Dislikes: Nicknames.

(Annoyed) "For the last time, do not call me Al!"
(Solemn but matter-of-fact) "Violence only begets violence, my friend."
(Increasingly desperate in a comical way) "We're basically part of what make you- you! If we were to go away, you'd probably become an empty shell of the person you are, and we'd probably poof right out of existence! We don't want to poof!"
The main antagonist of the first episode. He and his crew have been making Clove's life miserable since day one, but he isn't given the liberty of being called by a name. Yet, at least.
(Mocking) "Oh my god, did you catch yourself a boyfriend?"
(Angered, then receives an attack from behind) "You think you're some smartass—Ngh!"
