Project Overview
Summer at Marisol Bay is a b x b visual novel for Yaoi Jam 2020. Play as Kyro, an aspiring actor, who has just been hired to play the role of a pirate mascot at the Marisol Bay resort. Navigate the summer as Kyro makes new friends and falls in love. The game is completely SFW!
Please note: All yaoi jam games need to be submitted by August 30th. As such, we will be expecting a quick turnaround for lines. The deadline to audition will be Wednesday August 12th. We will cast the roles and send your lines to you by by August 14th. We need the lines in by August 21st after that.
This game will have partial voice acting and each character can have anywhere from 10 to 20 short reactions/lines.

Kyro is the kind of person who goes with the flow, especially when it comes to the what the resort throws at him. Personality wise, he's very much a calm but passionate individual. He wants to act more than anything, and because of that you often find him being a bit exaggerated in some of his dialogue and in the roles he plays.
We are looking for someone who isn't afraid to play the role of Kyro AND Captain Bailey (the pirate that Kyro was hired to play!). Kyro's voice is a medium pitched male sounding voice while I imagine Captain Bailey's has more of a rasp to it and a deeper tone.

You just pulled a bagel from where exactly? (Kyro was just offered a bagel for breakfast that seemingly came from nowhere. This should show Kyro's playful and sarcastic side.)
I believe in you and your dream. I want to see you succeed, more than anything. (Very sincere, Kyro is telling a friend he wants their ideas to do well)
Wyatt is one of the love interests that Kyro/the player can pursue. He's very carefree and makes everything a joke. He's super flirty, loves dad jokes and has bought every single Hawaiian shirt in the gift shop.
light tone- higher to medium tone.
I’ll need to try harder. Next time I bump into you, I’ll make sure you hit the ground. (Teasing, Wyatt has just bumped into Kyro who caught himself before falling)
“I left you speechless, huh?” (Flirting)
"You can't ever have too many Hawaiian shirts." (Denying that he has a problem buying too many Hawaiian shirt, because they totally don't give off dad energy)
Liam is another love interest. He is the receptionist at Marisol Bay. He's a serious character who comes off as judgmental and elitist because of his affinity for upscale experiences. Liam is a workaholic and lives to make Marisol Bay the best it can be.
More serious tone- very formal
You’ll be staying in room 243 on the second floor. Please, enjoy your stay and do not hesitate to ring the front desk if you encounter any problems. (Doing his job as receptionist of the resort)
You’d think someone like you would appreciate better talent and production value. (Lowkey judging Kyro for being an actor and liking terrible movies)
You know you're not that bad, for a mascot. (Liam finally admitting he likes Kyro)
Brooke works in the same area of the resort as Kyro. She's energetic, full of life, and loves gossip/drama. She puts everything she has into her job at Marisol Bay.
Brooke's tone is higher and more lively.
I came up with some neat code words to use on the walkie talkies! (Telling Kyro excitedly about how well they're going to work together)
Oh, please please please Kyro! (Brooke begging Kyro to go somewhere with her)
You're not going over to that side of the resort are you? Carmella is the absolute worst. (With some disdain, Brooke really hates Carmella)
Mrs.V is the oldest member of the Marisol Bay staff. She treats the rest of the staff like her children. Very sweet and polite woman- has seen the resort change over the years and likes to see the positive in every situation.
Tone: Elderly woman!
Welcome to Marisol Bay, dear. (Welcoming newcomers to the resort)
Would you do me the honor of telling me a bit about yourself? This old lady loves a good story. (Asking Kyro to tell her about himself)
You don’t need an old woman telling you how important sleep is. Let’s try to get you some energy instead. (After Kyro has forgotten to eat breakfast)
Amelia is the manager of the resort. She is laid back but also focused on her work.
Medium tone.
I’m the one designating your duties, as well as handling payroll and any customers you’re having trouble with.
You'll need to keep your work phone on you at all times.
This may seem like a menial job at first, but you’ll be making memories for families. You’re going to make their summers unforgettable. It’s a big responsibility.
Carmella is a snobby and elitist older woman who has been working at the resort for as long as the current owner has. She often looks down on people who don't reach her standard of dress and behavior.
Tone: Deeper/older woman
Are you lost? (Snotty- the person trying to enter her restaurant isn't dressed to her standards and she doesn't want them in there)
Hold your tongue, boy. I don’t need help from someone who parades himself around the resort as a mascot.(Refusing to accept Kyro's help because she has a seniority complex)
