Steven Universe fanimation: MINERVA GEMS Casting Call 2

Project Overview

  1. Minerva Gems is a fan animated project based on the world of Steven Universe. The story takes place in the far future on a gem colony called Minerva. After 2 separate wars, the planet has become a wasteland of crime and chaos. The main cast is a group of bounty hunters tasked with defending a settlement from criminals, monsters, and dismantling the remnants of a once organized force that rebelled against the ruling bodies of the colony. 


As for your role, we have several positions up for grabs listed below. If you are selected for a role you will be given a link to a discord server where you'll get all the info and resources you need to do your part! 

PLEASE NOTE 

we sadly are unable to pay as this is not a professional production and is just something we do in our free time. If you cannot contribute because of this we fully understand and wish you the best of luck. 


Another note, just a tip to make your chances of getting the role more likely, we like our VAs to make up lines for their character to better understand and portray said character instead of just reading off a script. Improvising is always appreciated.

  • Merry Christmas!

    We hope each and every one of you has ana amazing Christmas. We know this year has been really uncertain and chaotic, but we hope everyone of you out there is having the best time you can. We appreciate to no end the support we've gotten from you all, it's amazing. You are all so talented and those who have been chosen so far have been a treat to work with. Even those not cast, keep on trying! Never ever give up on your dreams and always keep trying and improving! Stay safe, stay warm, stay you! Ps the deadline has been pushed back a bit. We don't know for how much longer but due to life obligations we are a little behind. Bear with us and expect new open roles ;)

I guess you could say heliotrope is the Shonen protagonist of MG. Heliotrope is the muscle of the team. She's the toughest member by far but she's dumb as a stump and very socially unaware. Though she has a heart of gd and always strives to do the right thing. Her biggest strength is her unbreakable will which is a positive and a negative as this leads her to take on enemies that clearly outclass her but she just doesn't care. She's a goof through and through constantly either getting into trouble or freaking everyone out with her uncivilized wasteland bumkin lifestyle. For example when asked if hungry she'd go on the hunt for food instead of buying it like everyone else. This ineptness comes from her being raised by her big sister in the middle of the desert where they had to hunt for food and fight off predators even as gemlings. Helio was a sudden addition to the team after she randomly stumbled into them. Despite this all isn't as what it seems as she has a mysterious tattoo on the back of her neck and her constantly talking about her sister who seeming abandoned her in the desert while they were traveling. 

  • Oh hey, is this the place with the drafting center? Been walking for weeks lookin' for the dang place. Also have you seen my sis? She's big, buff, red, can't miss her. 

  • Did I ever tell you guys about the time big sis got trampled by a mama corrupted? It was hilarious! Wish ya'll could've seen it! But we weren't doing anything bad I swear! We just wanted to pet her babies!

The young aspiring leader of Ultra team. She's more level headed than most rubies and a bit naive at the tender age of 74. However, her determination and drive shine through in her actions trying to run her rag-tag team of three before the new members were hired. She hails from a large affluent family with many siblings. One hundred and thirty four to be exact. Despite her close-knit, mob of a family, she has developed something of a sisterhood with her elder colleague, Lefty. Lefty always seems to bail Roob out of trouble, but Roob is usually the one who scolds her for being reckless. She has a rivalry with Heliotrope, frustrated by how much stronger Heliotrope seems to be in comparison to her. 

  • Hey, I'm Roob, leader of Ultra team. Yeah... I'll be the first to admit, our team isn't doing so well. Given, before you guys showed up there was only 3 of us.

  • Yeah, my sisters are pretty well known in the C.O.M. In fact, my entire family is known for their heroics. But me? I'm just...kinda here. 

  • Oh yeah, my mama is a company master, I always thought she was the coolest. Going out in space and seeing all sorts of worlds, and you get to fight monsters and criminals to boot!

The second goofball of the team and is somehow even more of a handful than Helio. Lefty is the explosives expert of the team who just can't get enough of things that go boom! For an aquamarine, she’s oddly rough and tumble and forgets she has wings on a regular basis. Peppy and upbeat, seemingly nothing brings her mood down as long as she can light it up!

  • (reassuring) "Oh don't worry, my explosive is perfectly safe! I've trained after all..! I mean... Not formally but still trained!!"

She's a performer turned sociopath by a failed comedy career. The shunning by her fans has twisted her heart into a brutally deceptive killer who takes great glee instilling utter terror where joy once resided. She'll worm her way into the folds of your mind with comedic, happy facades and then exploit all of your deepest fears and anxieties as soon as there is an opening. Ensuring all know the name and face of terror, she now finds joy as the distorted and destructive hand of her shadowed master. Laughing at the suffering of others, as she was made to suffer, ostracized from her dream career.

  • (Ecstatic) "Delightful, isn't it? With every wound I tear open, you reward me with your screams and tears. It's like watching a holiday special early!"

  • (Demented joy) "What's the hurry, bub? Don't ya wanna be a part of my show? I'll have you be a part of my new act, 'Dead and Loving it!"

  • (Seething rage) "This isn't over. You may have earned the applause this act, but at the end of the show, I'LL be the one who gets the award! This is MY show! I'M the main star of this production, not you! I'll have the last laugh!"

The Noble and heroic co-overseer of the Arakai settlement. Despite being a co-overseer, a position defined purely by doing paperwork and management, she takes a head-on approach to deal with crime often dealing with issues herself. She's secretly a Beryl (a type of aquamarine) however hides it in the form of her bodysuit. With it, she takes on the persona of the stong back of the Arakai Community with boasting and cheerful personality to show everyone. She often acts like some kinda superhero to her people (not unlike all might)

The skilled but deranged swords gem of the team. She's nearly always on the verge of hysterics and excitement. She takes great pleasure in the heat of combat almost to a euphoric degree, this often off puts the rest of her team who views her personality as creepy and weird. She's obsessive over Heliotrope, she sees some hidden potential in her and is uncharacteristically sweet and talky to her in particular. Helio being who she is doesn't notice and just considers her a good friend.

The accent mysterious old man of the region who knows just about everything there is to know. Despite being hundreds of years old he claims he's still very much in his prime and says he's still got a couple hundred years left in him. He wanders the area scavenging and selling goods with his traveling family made up of adopted gems and half gems. His best friend is Forteeus the vision seer who they follow around on his wacky adventures to fulfill visions he has.

One of the children of Kriff. She among her siblings, is the smallest and seemingly the least imposing as she's small enough to still sit on the shoulders of her old man despite being an adult. However, despite her size, she is the successor to Kriff in his clan. She is the strongest in the family bar kriff himself and is probably the closest to him. She's fairly friendly upon first glance, but can quickly turn either standoffish or downright threatening to those she decides she doesn't like. When with her family and friends, she's always compassionate and always looking to help, however to most others she puts on a tough guy attitude to intimidate them. She's fairly witty and has street smarts, however let's her anger control her too much.

The friendly little waitress at the local pub in the area. She's a well meaning but a bit of a bumbling goof. She's pretty clumsy and open is reprimanded by the pub owner, her Mother. She absolutely adores her mother despite this love never really being shown back, but she don't mind. She's always out just trying to make the people she's around smile.

Just like the gems but for guys and girls as Minervans and half gems can be either. 

Minervans are the native species that live along side gems much like how humans do. Minervans are vaguely reptilian and often have accents which song most like a Scottish accent as English isn't their first language. If you wanna say gibberish in minervan than be out guest lol
