Star Wars: Visionaries - Old Wounds (Fan Dubbed Comic)

Project Overview

Based off of a Star Wars Legends Comic from Star Wars: Visionaries, this is going to be a fan dubbed voice over comic on YouTube.

Please include your name and if you do or do not have a YouTube channel in your audition so I will know how to give you credit in the video for playing the role of your selected character.

Old Wounds is a 13-page non-canon comic
featured in Star Wars: Visionaries,
written and drawn by Aaron McBride. It is set in 16 BBY.

Darth Maul, with
replacement bionic legs attached to his upper torso, seeks out
the Lars homestead to
find and avenge himself upon Obi-Wan Kenobi. Upon his
arrival he is met by Owen Lars, whom he swiftly
disarms. Maul claims to have been tracking Kenobi for years, just missing him
on his missions to Kamino, Geonosis, and Mustafar and to have killed many
witnesses on Polis Massa before finally gaining crucial information in Mos Espa
from an aged Toydarian junk dealer, whom he then murdered. The dark creature
declares that he knows threatening Luke Skywalker will bring his adversary out
into the open.

Owen Lars was a human male moisture farmer from the desert planet Tatooine. He was the son of Aika and Cliegg Lars, and he became the stepbrother of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker when Cliegg remarried to Anakin's mother Shmi Skywalker, a former slave. When Shmi was killed by Tusken Raiders and Cliegg passed away soon after, Lars was left responsible for his family's farm. Around that time, Lars married his girlfriend, Beru Whitesun, and they toiled to maintain the homestead.

Three years later, Lars' stepbrother betrayed the Jedi Order and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader. At that time, Lars and his wife were given custody of Skywalker's son, Luke, by Skywalker's Jedi MasterObi-Wan Kenobi. The Jedi told Lars that Skywalker had been killed, and the farmer grew to resent Kenobi, believing he was responsible for his stepbrother's death. Fearing that the younger Skywalker would share a similar fate, Lars forbade Kenobi from seeing the boy, and he kept his nephew busy with work on the farm.

Owen should sound like Phill Brown from the Prequel Trillogy.

  • "There somethin' I can help you with friend?"

  • "I'm gonna have to ask you to stop right there and lemme see your hands!"

  • "I told you I'd keep him SAFE, and I will. Even if that means from YOU."

Obi-Wan Kenobi, later known as Ben Kenobi during his exile, was a legendary Jedi Master who played a significant role in the fate of the galaxy during the waning days of the Galactic Republic. He was the mentor of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker, training both in the ways of the Force. He had a long and tumultuous career that helped shape the fate of the entire galaxy.

He should sound as either Ewan McGregor from the Prequel Trillogy, or James Arnold Taylor from The Clone Wars.

  • "We can do this for old times' sake. But I was a Padawan then...now...you won't HEAL CLEAN!"

  • "I'll take him to the Dune Sea...and burn the body there."

  • "Don't worry. I'll be right here...even if you can't see me. Always."

Luke Skywalker was a Force-sensitive human male Jedi Master who was instrumental in restoring balance to the Force, defeating the Sith and the Galactic Empire, and inspiring a legend that brought a spark of hope to the galaxy in the fight to defeat the First Order. He and his twin sister, Leia Organa, were born at the end of the Clone Wars to the Sith Lord Darth Vader—once Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy—and Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo. After Amidala's death, Leia was taken to live on Alderaan while Skywalker was raised on Tatooine by his father's step-brother Owen Lars and his wife Beru, under the distant but watchful eye of Anakin's old friend and former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, unaware of his parentage.

In his youth, Skywalker was often impatient, looking ahead to the future with little regard for his present surroundings. Like his father, he was impulsive, reckless, and often had little regard for his own personal safety.

It doesn't matter what his child voice sounds like, but feel free to use Mark Hamill for inspiration.

  • "BBBBNN-BUN!?"

  • "SSSSHHHH?"

  • "Bye Mr Obi-Wan Kenobi."

Beru Whitesun Lars was a human female from Tatooine. She was married to Owen Lars and raised Luke Skywalker after the fall of the Galactic Republic.

Shortly before the outbreak of the Clone WarsOwen Lars' stepmother, Shmi Skywalker Lars, was kidnapped by Tusken Raiders, an event that brought Shmi's son, Anakin Skywalker, and his soon-to-be-wife, Padmé Amidala, to the Lars moisture farm. Three years later, Beru had already married Owen and taken on his last name. When the galactic conflict came to a close, Beru and Owen became the guardians of their new baby nephew, Luke Skywalker, after his father turned to the dark side of the Force and became Darth Vader. Jedi Master and friend to Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi delivered infant Luke to the Lars homestead.

She should sound like Bonnie Maree Piesse from the Prequel Trillogy.

  • "Owen, what is it? Tuskin Raider?"

  • [Screaming.] "OWEN!"

  • [Cowering in fear as she holds luke in her arms.] "Please don't..."

Watto was a male Toydarian junk dealer/human trafficker, who owned a shop in Mos EspaTatooine. He was the owner of Shmi Skywalker Lars as well as her son, Anakin Skywalker, the young boy who would grow up to become both a revered Jedi Knight and a feared Sith Lord known as Darth Vader.

Watto was proud of his business and distrusting of Republic credits, which he felt weren't "real" enough for the tough economy of an Outer Rim Territory planet like Tatooine. When Qui-Gon Jinn attempted a mind trick on him in order to get him to accept 20,000 credits in exchange for a T-14 hyperdrive generator, he shrugged it off, telling Jinn that as a Toydarian, mind tricks didn't work on him, "only money." Watto was a heavy gambler, and later lost the hyperdrive and Anakin in a bet he had wagered against the Jedi

He should sound like his voice actor, Andrew Secombe.

  • "Aaaaahhh! Good
day to you. Welcome to Watto's
shop, eh? Take a look around. I've got everything you need, eh?
    He-he-he-he-he! What do you want?"

  • "Sky-Skywalker! Where did you here such a name? Who told you he was once my slave?"

  • "Look pal, I don't know what vendetta you have against Owen Lars or that hermit, Ben Kenobi, but if you don't get the hell out of my damn store, I'll call the local authorities. You tattooed dathomirian horned..." [Starts choking due to being Force Choked.]

THOUGH I PLAN TO TAKE THE ROLE OF DARTH MAUL FOR MYSELF, THIS IS FOR INCASE ANYONE WANTS TO AUDITION FOR HIM, AND IF  I LIKE THEIR VOICE BETTER OVER MY VOICE IMPRESSION OF SAM WITWER'S DARTH MAUL.

Maul was a Dathomirian Zabrak male who lived during the waning days of the Galactic Republic and the reign of the Galactic Empire. The son of Mother Talzin of the Nightsisters, he was taken as the Sith apprentice of Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith, and given the name Darth Maul. After revealing the existence of the Sith to the Jedi Order, Maul supposedly fell in a lightsaber duel against Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Battle of Naboo. Over a decade later, he returned from exile and formed the criminal army known as the Shadow Collective, intent on reclaiming the power he had lost. His quest for revenge against Kenobi and the Sith continued into the Imperial age, bringing him into conflict with the early rebellion against the Empire.

Darth Maul's life and motivations were based around revenge. After his exile and the restoration of his mind, Maul turned his thoughts of revenge towards the galaxy, and especially towards Obi-Wan Kenobi, after the Jedi defeated him and forced him into exile after their duel on Naboo. He felt the vacuum from losing power, having known about the Clone Wars and intending to be part of it, only to learn that the Sith plans moved on without him. Maul was therefore willing to go to great lengths to achieve his vengeance, including slaughtering civilians and thrusting Mandalore into civil war to gain power and draw Kenobi out into the open.

Cunning and deceptive, Maul was perfectly willing to feign weakness to accomplish his purposes, or even side with the Jedi if necessary. He was not above taunting such "allies,"

He should sound as either Ray Park from the Prequel Trillogy or Sam witwer's version from The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.

  • [Spoken in first a genral tone before shifting to a darker one.] "Watto was it, I've come looking for some parts to repair these old cybernetic legs of mine... and for information about the relatives of one of your former slaves."

  • "Oh but this slave of yours..became a JEDI..did he not? I believe he went by the name of....SKYWALKER."

  • [Spoken through gritted teeth in anger with a snarl.] "That day in THEED I fell so far from what I was. When I came to REST all I could SEE was YOU.  But I ROSE from my ruin to find myself GREATER...And all the days since have been TO YOUR END!"

Clone troopers were highly trained soldiers in the Grand Army of the Republic, the armed forces of the Galactic Republic in its final yearsBred from the genetic template of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, clone troopers represented the latest evolution in galactic warfare at the time, largely due to their superiority over battle droids. Their formal introduction as the Republic's new military force coincided with the outbreak of a galaxy-wide civil war; various members of the Republic attempted to secede from the galactic government in order to form the breakaway state known as the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The ensuing conflict gained its name—the Clone Wars—from the clones who made their debut in the first full-scale war since the formation of the millennial Republic.

They should sound close to either Temuera Morrison from the Prequel Trillogy, or as Dee Bradley Baher's portrayal in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

  • "Sir, we searched the entire ship and the readings check out. Scans indicate that this Feethan Ottraw Scalable
Assemblies Belbullab-22 starfighter IS 'The Souless One'. The personal starship belonging to General Grevious."

  • "Wait, did you say this was GREVIOUS' starship? But I thought he was reported dead!?"

  • "But Commander, if Grevious had been for two years, then how did this ship just show up here in the hanger?"

Commander Cody

Role assigned to: DGV_VA

A loyal and no-nonsense commander, CC-2224, nicknamed "Cody," was a clone commander assigned to High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi of the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars.

While Cody had developed a sense of respect for those who considered him as a friend, like most other clones, his thoroughly ingrained loyalty to the Republic was the dominating trait of his character.

Cody was a loyal and competent soldier who always followed his orders. He was a no-nonsense commander who was very skilled in tactics.

After Order 66, Cody became cynical and bitter because of the changes that were introduced by the New Order, specifically the alterations to the Imperial Military. Though a proud veteran of the Clone Wars, Cody felt nothing except contempt for the Stormtrooper Corps. As one of the last remaining clones of Jango Fett, he felt isolated and alone in his hatred for the birth-born human recruits who came to dominate the ranks of a military that was once the exclusive province of Fett's progeny. From Cody's point of view, enlisted personnel were inferior soldiers compared to the original clone troopers. He regarded the former Grand Army of the Republic as a once truly incredible fighting force, and so he resented the reforms which he believed to be responsible for a significant decrease in the combat effectiveness of the Grand Army's Imperial successor.

He should sound as either Temuera Morrison from the Prequel Trilogy, Andrew Chaikin from the Revenge of the Sith video gameAndré Sogliuzzo fromthe Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon, or Dee Bradley Baker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

  • "Clone Comander CC-2224 here, what did you find trooper?"

  • "General Grevious DIED on Utapah during the final days of the Clone Wars. I saw his smoking robotic corpse myself. That means this ship has been missing for over two years now."

  • "Then a better question, TROOPER, would be, 'Where IS the GUY who REPORTED it stolen, and HOW did he KNOW which EXACT hanger the starship was in?'"

Fifth Brother

Role assigned to: Narthax87

Fifth Brother was the designation used by a gray-skinned humanoid male Inquisitor of the Galactic Empire whos service began 19 years before the Battle of Yavin. On the orders of the EmperorDarth Sidious, the Fifth Brother was dispatched by the Sith Lord Darth Vader to hunt the growing rebellion against the Empire. He later perished by the hands of former Sith Lord Darth Maul on Malachor, 2 years before the Battle of Yavin.

The Fifth Brother was a tall, muscular humanoid male with mint eyes and gray skin. He wore the gray and black uniform of an Inquisitor, wore a metallic headpiece, and carried a double-bladed spinning lightsaber. When Ezra Bridger was captured, he attempted to execute him on the spot, only to be stopped by the Seventh Sister who derided him for his short-sightedness as the boy could be used as bait.

He should sound like his voice actor, Philip Anthony-Rodriguez.

  • "I
care not for your struggles. I will succeed where you and Kallus have failed."

  • "Then a better question, TROOPER, would be, 'Where IS the GUY who REPORTED it stolen, and HOW did he KNOW which EXACT hanger the starship was in?'"

Seventh Sister (Barris Offee)

Role assigned to: deleted80609

The Seventh Sister, (who I still think is secretly Barris Offee), was a female Mirialan Inquisitor who served the Galactic Empire and operated as a Jedi hunter beginning 19 years before the Battle of Yavin. She was tasked with tracking down Ahsoka Tano, a prominent figure in the rebellion against the Empire, by the Lord, Darth Vader. Following the death of the Grand Inquisitor, the Seventh Sister sought to replace him as the leader of the Inquisitorius.

In the fourth year before the Battle of Yavin, the Seventh Sister came into direct conflict with the Spectres. She fought them on many occasions: aboard an Old Republic medical station, in Hammertown on the planet Takobo in an attempt to kidnap Force-sensitive children, and on Garel in an attempt to destroy the rebel fleet. The Seventh Sister was ultimately killed by Maul on Malachor.

The Seventh Sister kept a tight hold on her emotions and spoke calmly, even during combat. She favored agility over brute strength, and she had a certain level of respect for her opponents. Unlike the Fifth Brother, she was tactically minded and often used cutting barbs or sarcastic comments when sparring with her opponents to put them off-guard. She would often engage her opponents in flirtatious banter, occasionally bordering on seductive, and use her probe droids in combat to distract them. The Seventh Sister also demonstrated occasional sadism and willingness to torture, as shown when she remarked that she only needed Ezra alive and not in one piece, clearly threatening dismemberment if he didn't start talking.

She should sound like Sarah Michelle Gellar from Star Wars: Rebels, or Meredith Salenger's portrayal of Bariss Offee from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

  • Yes, the death of the Grand Inquisitor was a
surprise to all, yet it does present the rest of us with new opportunities.
There are many hunting you now, all intent on killing you and
your Master. Does that frighten you?

The Grand Inquisitor

Role assigned to: Narthax87

The Grand Inquisitor, commonly known simply as the Inquisitor, was the name adopted by a Pau'an male Jedi Knight who turned to the dark side of the Force and became the leader of the Inquisitorius, a band of Jedi hunters who served the Galactic Empire. The Grand Inquisitor was once a Jedi Temple Guard and was involved in the events surrounding the bombing of the Jedi Temple during the Clone Wars, arresting the innocent and later exonerated Padawan Ahsoka Tano as well as the true culprit, Barriss Offee. After his fall to the dark side, the Grand Inquisitor was responsible for hunting down and eliminating Jedi during the Jedi Purge. He personally served the Sith Lord Darth Vader, from whom he received his orders, and was intimately familiar with the records of the Jedi Temple.

Although he was a physical opponent for Jedi and tapped into the dark side of the Force, he did not appear overly emotional, instead operating as a cold and analytical mind. Whatever intensity he showed was a result of his purpose in completing his mission.

The Grand Inquisitor also supported Captain Piers Roddance's view that the Empire needed to purge itself of all weakness and regarded compassion as the most insidious weakness.

He should sound like his voice actor, Jason Isaacs, from Star Wars: Rebels.

  • "You
do know the Emperor personally selected me, Vader? Raised me up, gave me this
position. He believes in my abilities."

  • "Yes, I'm afraid Master Luminara DIED with the Republic. But her bones continue to serve the Empire. Luring the last Jedi to their ends."

  • "Then a better question, TROOPER, would be, 'Where IS the GUY who REPORTED it stolen, and HOW did he KNOW which EXACT hanger the starship was in?'"
