  • NARRATOR: It comes as no surprise that there is a problem with sanitation on flights, but imagine how that issue can be an extra concern for those traveling with infants and young children.  So Southwest Airlines will be adding Family Friendly Flights this holiday season to help eliminate some of the stress families may feel when they fly.

To do this Southwest Airlines will feature kid friendly meal and snack options along with a full-length movie the whole family will enjoy. Customers will be able to search when purchasing tickets which of the flights are named “Family Friendly.” On these specific flights, the attendants will offer their help to those who need to check strollers at the gate, carry baby carriers, and correctly buckle kids in their seat.

An extra bonus to these flights are a vast supply of clean blankets for kids and disinfectant wipes. What about changing diapers?! Instead of doing so in the crammed airplane bathroom or on the pull-down trays that you and future passengers then need to eat off of; Southwest family friendly flights have removed 3 seats in the back of the airplane to install a changing area. No more storing wet or soiled diapers in the seatback pocket. “We felt although the cost of a ticket will go up slightly due to these changes, families will be much happier with their flight experience.” Stated Gary C. Kelly CEO of Southwest Airlines.

Anybody may purchase a ticket on these flights, but Southwest believes this is an added comfort to traveling families. They’ve even decided to install Brita filters to their water for those that need to make bottles or give their kids a refill in their sippy cup. The superbug is no joke. Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), which kills 20,000 Americans annually.

Southwest Airlines wants to fix all; and to keep their passengers and their family healthy, safe and comfortable while flying with them. So the next time you are booking a flight look for Family Friendly!
