Sonic and the Black Knight Prequel Part 1 Casting Call (Paid: $25.50 per Half-Hour)

Project Overview

About the Project

This project is a three-part series that is a prequel to the video game, Sonic and the Black Knight (SATBK). The video is in the art style of the video game’s cutscenes, explaining the story of Sir Galahad with Sonic the Hedgehog characters portraying the Arthurian legend. The roles are for part one of the series, which has already been scripted and storyboarded, and is currently in production. My goal is to produce a high-quality piece and also make this project a positive experience for all involved! Let’s make something beautiful and happy together!

  • Do not slate.

  • AABB Format. No more than 2 takes per line. Please vary your takes! I want to hear how talented you are!

  • Only one audio file per audition, please!

  • Please send your audition in MP3 Mono.

  • Please be professional regardless of the outcome of the casting. Professionalism is part of the audition process, so I will be watching. ;)

  • Have fun! As they say, auditions are your chance to be that character for a window of time. So enjoy yourself!

Why should you work with me?

  • Proof of the quality of my work can be found in the comic dub I produced and directed, The Princess and Cow Herder (https://youtu.be/aukcCu9fqrg). This comic dub won the 2024 Spring Showcase hosted by Sonic Expo.

  • I have been in the voice-over community for almost seven years. I have recorded for commercials, e-learning, narration, web animations, radio shows, audio dramas, podcasts, live streams, and indie and student video games—I know what it is like to be in projects like these!

  • I also have experience in sound design, so I understand what it is not only like to be in the cast but the crew as well!

  • In the Sonic community specifically, my clients have included Balena Productions, Shadow759, Sonic Villains, Pixelrush, Adrenaline Dubs, Sonic Revolution, Radio Harrow, Sonic Adventure 2: Reimagined, and more! I was also a featured voice-over guest at the Chaos Creators and Sonic Revolution conventions in 2022 (Both live and online Conventions).

  • I also understand the importance of supporting artists, so I am being very careful to make sure my cast and crew are paid at industry or indie standard rates! (Rates based on recommended rates by Voice Over Club Indie Rates Recommendations: https://voiceactingclub.com/rates/)

  • The script has already been written out, the storyboards have been completed and the scope of part one has already been evaluated and approved by my artists. We are already underway. We are determined to not only finish this project but make it a show-stopper!

Latest Updates

  • Casting Call Update

    Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone that has auditioned! Both roles have been filled. However, I am so honored that every single one of you took the time to audition for this project. I wish I could take all of you!

Please know this was not an easy decision and took hours of deliberation—which speaks to everyone’s quality of work. So thank you all for being so talented and good at what you do!

I hope to work with you in the future!

  • Casting Call is Closed!

    Hello everyone!

Thank you all for the auditions! Between CCC and those who sent recordings to me individually, we had about 100 auditions in total!

In the next week or so, I am going to start narrowing down my casting decisions. I will reach out to those who are selected for the role, or, if need be, for call backs.

The sad thing about casting is that I can assign only one person to each role. I wish I could take you all! So please know, no matter the outcome, I am honored that you all took a chance with my project. I hope to work with all of you in the future!

    All the best,

    Sydney

  • Update on the SATBK Casting Call

    Hello, everyone!

Thank you so much for the auditions! It means so much that you are giving my project a chance.

We are a few days away from the casting call closing. Just as an update, I've been working on the shortlist. Once we have passed the deadline of April 19th, I will start narrowing down the submissions for casting.

Once again, if you submitted your audition in a format that is not in AABB format, feel free to shoot me a message, and we can talk about you resubmitting your audition!

I hope you have a great day!

    Sydney ;)

  • Thank You for Your Auditions! Just some notes!

    Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for your amazing auditions and taking the time to look at my project! Just a couple notes I've been catching:

    • Please don't forget to list out your equipment specs! That orients me with what you are working with! If you forgot to add those with your audition, feel free to add them in the comments! ;)

    • Please do your audition in AABB format. This means you need to record two takes per line (AKA side) like this:

      • Line 1: Take 1

      • Line 1: Take 2

      • Line 2: Take 1

      • Line 2: Take 2

Multiple takes help me understand your emotional and vocal range and your ability to take lines in different directions. So it is important for me as a director to hear. ^^

If you've found you delivered your lines in a different format than AABB format, and would like to try again, feel free to email or DM me and we can chat!

    Break a leg, everyone!

    Sydney ;)

Lady Nimue: Lady of the Lake (Supporting)
closed
Paid: Hourly 51 USD
Role assigned to: fleurdechant

Character and Role Description: Amy Rose is Lady Nimue in the Sonic and the Black Knight video game. She is treated as an oracle to the other characters, and is the definition of a refined lady. In stark contrast to her video game counterpart, Lady Nimue is very reserved, proper and well-mannered. I would love to see this contrast between Lady Nimue and Amy shine through! (Approximate number of lines: 5).

Character Wiki: https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Nimue

Voice Description: To remain faithful to the video game, I would like a voice match of the original voice over artist of Lady Nimue, Lisa Ortiz. As a medieval, well-mannered and intelligent lady should be expected to be, her speech is deliberate, articulate, and slower in pace than the Amy Rose counterpart. However, her timbre remains faithful to the original Amy Rose.

The Baker (Extra)
closed
Paid: Hourly 51 USD
Role assigned to: Malcolm Searcy

Character and Role Description: The Baker is based on the villagers in the game that Sonic helps from time to time. If it helps your acting decisions, according to the character wiki, the villagers “were designed to embody the spirit of the forest.” This Baker is kind hearted, and loves their work. In their scene, they are startled and distressed by a thief stealing a loaf of their bread. (Lines: 4 lines)

Character Wiki of villagers: https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Townsperson

Voice Description: In the game, the villagers don’t really have a voice. When the player goes to talk to them, they sound sort of like broken pottery clinking. So feel free to experiment, and see if that influences your decisions! The baker is an adult, and is mature and parental in nature, so go for that timber! Also, you will need to yell. Please do not hold back, and ensure your equipment does not peak!
