San Madrial - Interlude

San Madrial - Interlude

Project Overview

San Madrial...

What is there to say about such a place? To the outside world, it's nothing short of a paradise. To those who call it home, it's a different story entirely. San Madrial is a city torn by earnings gaps, where the rich get richer, while for the poor and misguided things only get worse. If there's anything one can really say about this city that stays true regardless of perspective is that it's very diverse. San Madrial houses every walk of life you could imagine. And underneath the surface, an evil secret lurks... A storm is on its way, and its up to our heroes to find a way to stop the impending darkness before it is too late... Will you join us?

What you just read is a short, spoiler free summary of a Plot-line for a Persona Roleplaying site that I will potentially lead in the future, to give this some context. What I'd like to do is add Voiced Narration to plot-important threads on the site to give the story that little extra layer of immersion. Seeing as I love Voice Acting  and writing in general, it sounded like a good idea in my head to bring my two passions together.

What we're casting here is just an interlude, a conversation between 2 of the 24 cast members I have in mind for the story as a means to tease the plot-line a little bit, and to see what works, and what doesn't for a project like this, so it's nothing all that long. If this ends up working, I'll proceed with making the actual plot voiced for the site. Regardless, this little bit will be posted on there for everyone to see. I may end up contacting anyone cast for this in the future if the plot takes off.

Here's what I'm expecting of you

  • A Good sounding Microphone (No iPhones or headsets. Anything like a Blue Yeti or an equivalent is a bare minimum.)

  • While you aren't required to have a professional soundbooth, try to minimize any echo or background noise when recording.

  • You'll need to have a Discord Account. This will be how I Contact you.

  • Deliver your lines on time. If you are picked, by no means do you need to stress, but I'd like to get this stuff out in a timely manner. I hope you understand.

  • And while this last one isn't super important, I'd still like you to ask me any questions you may have. If there's anything you are unsure of, please let me know.

With that out of the way, hope you'll have a fun time! :D

  • Deadline Pushback

Two of the three roles have been cast, but I feel like the final role hasn't gotten enough attention.

This is simply the narrator. All I require from you is to have a good pacing while reading the bulk of the text. You need to sound very clear.

  • This rain had been going on for days on end without break, leaving the streets devoid of activity. Everyone just wanted to stay inside where it was warm and dry over the cold, uncomfortable conditions that awaited outside, and who could blame them?

  • Laura Sofía Montes was a rather strict woman, who had been promoted to Principal that summer. She was good at her job, but the old lady was nearly hated by every single student at the academy, and the other members of the faculty certainly didn't like her very much either. But everyone agreed that she was the best for the job among them, if only for the time being.

  • Feel free to Improvise!! I just need samples of your voice here!

A History Teacher working at Tulioso Academy, Edgar is a kind and welcoming man, unlike the current Principal which he works for. Despite this, Edgar is a character with a mysterious past. No one knows from where he came, and the man has nothing to say about it either. Once the subject of his past is mentioned, Edgar is quick to steer the conversation in a different direction. He clearly has something to hide... Question is... what?

His voice is on the middle end. Not too deep nor too bright. He's a man in his early thirties, who's seen a lot more than a history teacher like him perhaps should have. He's usually a pretty happy-sounding man, all in all, despite what this introduction might show. He has a slight british accent. Nothing too noticable, but if you can get in some nuance of that dialect, then by all means go for it.

  • ”...How much time do we have left?” *Grim-sounding.*

  • ”Haha, you know I can't. Not much of a leader-type. Besides, I'm getting more than enough paperwork as a history teacher already. I don't need any more of that on my plate, thank you very much.” *Jovial and light-hearted. Somewhat jokingly*

  • ”Take care, friend... Once you've contacted your heir, let me know, okay?” *Slightly hopeful. A little tired*

Huemac is one of the Main Leading characters in the story of San Madrial. He's a half-god capable of walking between the worlds of both the living and the dead, who's been Edgar's companion for a while. In the story, his time is running out, and he's seeking a new Heir to the Gift... What this Gift is remains to be seen, but it's clearly important.

Unlike his companion, Huemac's voice is on the brighter end of the spectrum. Feel free to give your own interpretation however. This one's not as set in stone as Edgar is. Give it your own personal spin. Just make sure to stay away from a robotic, monotone voice.

  • ”I think I may have found myself a suitable heir, Edgar.” *Huemac is rather optimistic here, almost excited even*

  • ”The veil is growing thinner by each passing day. Their activity is slowly rising as a result. The dearly departed are slowly losing hope.” *Serious and foreboding, with a hint of distress.*

  • ”Pfff. I'm pretty sure you'd be infinitely more qualified than some uptight hag, Edgar. Come on, at least the students like you.” *Joking and encouraging.*
