IMPORTANT NOTE: The role of Roger Craig Smith Sonic went to Auxcord but I have sadly still have not yet found the ideal VA that can sound very similarly to the Ryan Drummond rendition of Sonic.
The same deal applies for the previous casting call— searching for the greatest of Ryan Drummond impressionists. Yes, you still gotta emulate his performance, tone, vocal inflection, and range of emotions is a BIG MUST. Even looking to his performance in audio series such as Sonic and Tails R is very much welcome.
Even the exact same rules/requirements are in effect, such as these:
- You need a good, great or at least decent microphone. (Recording on a decent sounding cell phone/smartphone mic is optional as well, not all static-y and kinda muffled please.) Little to no unnecessary background noise or static.
- You must be able to record your voice with the proper tone, emotion, tempo and inflection for the character (and by tempo, I mean like following what Sonic says and noises he makes in the video displaying the cutscene here, matching the best of the original. In sync. That is key.)
- When recording for your Sonic, your performance has to be believable and authentic. Acting prowess is a HUGE MUST. I have to hear if the Ryan Sonic interpretations are confident and cocky, surprised and panicked, in absolute pain/agony and anger... you get the gist.
- The voice should be relatively close/same charisma/tone to the Sonic as possible. 👌
- Once you send in the audition, comment me your means of social media for communication, be it Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, email or Discord (I'd strongly recommend Discord, but even if you don't have one, I suppose Twitter or your Gmail handle would suffice. That way we can discuss the project and do a bit of voice direction/send in MP3s/WAVs)
- Preferably, I'd definitely need y'all to record each line with three takes.
- As for the Werehog form's voice concerning the Ryan version, feel free to experiment with what might fit the bill. If you really want to, you may look upon stuff for further research, shows, movies, audio projects or whatever you prefer. As long as you retain that Ryan Drummond Sonic cadence, but be sure to work with the roughness of the latter's to be able to be distinct enough between both form's voices.
- There is no need to digitally altering your voice or layering some effects/filters on your audition. Because I'll take care of that department. That, and you should be able to have the capacity to naturally deepen your voice, in Werehog-y fashion.
And that's about it.
If you're even in the mood for vocal inspiration for the Werehog form, I'll go ahead and link these:
