Project Overview

This is a casting call for chapter 1 of Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective!
Depending on interest, there may be more down the line. Stay tuned!

Plot:
Officer Totomaru Isshiki is down on his luck. The police department has been stuck on a serial murder case for months, and, due to his constant screw-ups, he is in danger of being taken out of the Investigation team altogether. He is then introduced to Ron Kamonohashi, a private detective who might be able to help solve the serial murder case and allow Toto to remain on the team.

However, Kamonohashi has a "fatal flaw" that makes him "unfit" to be a detective, and, as a result, he's not accepting any more investigative work. It's up to Toto to help him with his issues to convince Ron to get involved in the case, and perhaps help the supposed Great Detective return to his work.

Rules/Guidelines: 

- Having knowledge of the manga or show is preferred, but not required.

- Please be 16+!

- Please have a decent sounding mic, it doesn't need to be professional, just one that doesn't echo or have a lot of background noise.

- Multiple takes (ABCABC) are preferred!

- Please be respectful and professional to work with.

Ron is very passionate about solving mysteries. He possesses many skills and qualities needed to be a detective, e.g. he has outstanding deductive abilities and an excellent memory. However, Ron is quick to anger, and his fixation on cases makes him apathetic to everything else, standoffish and rude to other people, and easily bored when he has no cases to solve. Although he hated people even as a baby, Ron still cares about other people's lives. Thus, when he lost his detective license after the Bloody Field Trip Case and was branded a murderer, Ron became depressed and spent the next five years in isolation.


After Ron meets Totomaru Isshiki, he gradually begins to change and warm up to others, though he still likes using people for his own gain. 


Moreover, Ron has various idiosyncrasies. For example, Ron lies down next to corpses and "talks" to them, swearing that he will be their avenger, while he examines them. He does this to pay them his respect. He also likes to disguise himself when he accompanies Toto on cases, and sing "Kamo-Kamo" when he is happy. According to Kiku, Ron has had a "crazy" personality since before his expulsion.

Toto is pure-hearted, empathetic, and straightforward. He does not hesitate to help others in need, paying no heed to what problems it may cause; he just wants to do what he thinks is right. For that reason, his body often acts before his mind.


Though many (initially) believe he is unsuited for detective work and he is mostly delegated to paperwork, Toto is very dedicated to his occupation, wanting nothing more than to ensure the safety of the citizens. He greatly values life and often prays for the victims of his cases. Totomaru works hard and much, pulling all-nighters if he has too. This makes him, ultimately, an integral part of his division.

Furthermore, Totomaru says what he thinks without hesitation and voices his thoughts out loud without realizing it. According to Ron Kamonohashi, this is an indicator that he was a spoiled child and brought up in a refined environment. Toto also moves his mouth when he talks to himself.

A tough as nails leader of her sector with ambitions to become police superintendent general, this is notably displayed when she's the only police officer who aggressively refuses to put up with Kawasemi's perfectionist tendencies. The only time she lets her mask slip is regarding Kamonohashi whom she's become smitten with. She also does try to at least act nice to Isshiki, unlike Kawasemi who simply ignores him after taking one look at him.

While she can, on occasion, be nice to Isshiki, she is mostly quite rude to him, doing things like publicly humiliating him in the office by laughing at the idea of letting him in on her case and threatening to fire him if Kamo's investigations aren't up to her standards. Even when she has to thank and rely on him, she can't even bring herself to physically thank him properly and says she is only relying on him because she has absolutely no other option.

When Totomaru Isshiki is told to go home while the rest of the Metropolitan Police's investigative team keeps working on the Metropolitan Serial Drownings Case, he goes to talk to Kiku instead. Kiku tells Totomaru that he needs to get results if he wants to stay in the investigative team. He reminds him of his past mishaps and adds that he is not suited for detective work.


Toto says that cannot stand not doing anything while there is a serial killer terrorizing the city. Kiku then refers him to a certain private detective who may be able to solve the case. However, Kiku emphasizes that this detective is not a "normal" detective and has a "crazy" personality before he gives Totomaru a photograph and sends him to the Maison du Kamonohashi.


Later, Kiku sees Toto and Ron catching the serial killer and smiles.

At some point, some rich people tricked the barber into investing in stocks which left him with a huge debt. The barber then started to kill some of his rich customers for their money. Irregularly over the course of nine months, the barber drowned six men. One of them was Okamasa.
