Rock and Riot (Comic Dub)

Project Overview

The comic:

Rock and Riot is a web-comic created by Chelsey Furedi which follows the tales of two opposing teenage gangs in the 1950s that soon find themselves dealing with the exact same problems. When main character Connie, founder of the Jaquettes, finds herself liking girls rather than guys, she worries all hell will break lose. But this may actually be further from the truth.


While the opposing gangs try to work with their problem, a third gang shows up with members that don't care as much about other's opinions. The Bandits are a gang that works together to create and sell test answers and essays to the students of their school.


Additional Information:

The comic contains a total of 16 chapters (3 volumes).

The plan is to dub every chapter and have them all be uploaded to YouTube. 

The comic is a slice of life story that deals with the LGBTQ+ community in the 1950s, please don't audition if you're uncomfortable with the LGBTQ+.

I'm no good when it comes to determining which accents a character should have, so please try to use one (or none) that you think fits the character best!

A few extras and minor characters will be needed later on in the comic, I don't think auditioning for those will be necessary as of now, but it might be in the future.

A few simple rules:

Please make sure that the quality of your audio is good and has no background noises!

I did my best to note all the emotions needed for the audition lines, please try to act with the right emotion! (Tip; record the same line multiple times)

Discord or Skype will be needed to talk and send files! (preferably discord so you can be added to a group chat).

Keep in mind that if you are currently in a busy situation or any other situation that may prevent you from receiving lines on time, it is important to let me know in time!

  • Comic Dub has been completed!

    It has been a while since this CastingCall started, and for those still interested I just wanted to update really quick. The comic dub has since been completed, and has been uploaded in full to my Youtube Channel. Founder of the Jaquettes. Connie is an 18 year old tough leader that enjoys coming up for female rights despite her personality being more masculine than feminine. She is also a very accepting person, except when it comes to Frankie (leader of the opposing gang and Connie's enemy). 


She is dating Carla and identifies herself as lesbian.

This character sings an Elvis song (for fun) later on in the comic. The ability to sing a bit (It doesn't need to be perfect! But no completely off-tune singers please) will therefore be important for this role.

  • (Angry / Challenging) You tryin' to start something here, Frankie?

  • (Shy / Sweet) Well, actually, they're totally sweet. I'm so happy whenever I get to spend time with them.

  • (Disappointed) This ain't fair. I never get to spend any time with you!

Carla is an 18 year old high school student that belongs to none of the gangs. She's a waitress at "Suzy's diner". She's a very kind and also very confident young lady that will surely speak up when needed.


She's dating Connie and identifies as Panromantic and Asexual.

  • (Uplifting) I'm free tonight! I know a place for dancing on the outskirts of town... not many know about it! 

  • (Sarcastic, then serious) Well, aren't you a princess charming. But we need to keep it quiet, my papa's home.

  • (playful) If we're accepted, then you owe me a dance.

Debby is 17 years old and a member of the Jaquettes, despite not being the actual leader of the gang, she often does (like to) take the lead. She's up-front about her feelings and loves to gossip. But despite all of this, she gladly defends all her friends.

It is later revealed that Debby has been secretly dating Triss for a while and that she identifies as bisexual.

  • (Sassy) Yeah, don't listen to those boys. Their gang is no match for ours. Welcome to the Jaquettes.

  • (Light comedic sense of panic) Quick! Get her to the bathroom! Does anyone have any grease?

  • (Offended) And she said matching jackets are stupid. To my face!

It is later revealed that Triss holds a secret relationship with Debby and that she identifies as bisexual.

  • (Offended) The nerve on her, I swear!

  • (Cool / Seductively comedic) You should get a jacket yourself, Carla. It would really do up your look.

Rolly is a former member of the Rollers and a current member of the Jaquettes. She's 17 years old and she is very trustworthy and adorable, but not afraid to stand up for herself or her friends when she has to.

Rolly is a trans girl (boy to girl) that identifies as Pansexual as well as demisexual. She later ends up dating Ace.

  • (Excited) Matching patches would look boss! Can you imagine the Rollers' faces when we rock them?

  • (Sweet) I couldn't believe it. I never thought I'd find a group of people so understanding...

  • (Shy, flirtatious) There's a new milkshake on the menu... we could share?

Frankie is the 19 year old leader of the Rollers and therefore Connie's sworn enemy. He tries to act like a bit of the tough guy which results in him being a bit cocky. He overcompensates often but he does have great hair.

Frankie is later revealed to identify as gay and to be in a secret relationship with the school jock, Sasha.

  • (Pissed, Loud) What's their deal? It's a free country.

  • (Trying to sound nonchalant) Sorry we kicked you out.

  • (Fired up) We'll give 'em a prom they'll never forget.

Clyde is 18 years old and a member of the Rollers. He's a cool kind of guy that has his own opinion. However, he isn't as cool around his crushes which results in some awkward moments for him.

He ends up dating Gene and identifies as bisexual.

  • (Embarrassed) I don't even know if we can go to prom together. But, I still wanted to ask.

  • (Protective / Confident / Supportive) But just be yourself! And if he's got a problem with it... then he'll have to get through me!

  • (Slightly pissed) Frankie! Shut your yap and hear her out. Connie's a really cool chick.

Gene is a 17 year old boy that never really seemed to fit in. He only got accepted into the rollers because Clyde told Frankie (leader) that Gene owns a car. Gene is very smart, but also very shy, so he tries to hide this because he's worried about what others think.

Gene ends up dating Clyde later on and he identifies as Homoromantic as well as Gray-Asexual.

  • (Shy) You never told me why you stopped by my house the other day.

  • (Angry) I'm not going! I never even wanted to be a part of the Rollers in the first place, Frankie.

  • (Kinda upset / Insecure / Shy) I know too well about what's gone on in your past relationships. I don't want to do that stuff.

  • (Questioning) We went to your house to look for you but your sis said you were on a hot date. Did kaley bail on you then?

Ace is the founder of another gang called the Bandits. They're 17 years old and Agender. They are very mysterious, but they care about their friends a lot.

Ace ends up dating Rolly later on. Ace identifies as Asexual and Demisexual.

This characters has to sing a small song later on in the comic. The ability to sing a bit (It doesn't need to be perfect! But no completely off-tune singers please) will therefore be important for this role.



  • (Pissed off) I ain't joining no one. Why does it have to be boys vs girls with you?

  • (Confused / Nervous) But I've never liked anyone before! I thought I was-

  • (They're opening up / Kinda shy) But my problem with your teams is that... I don't want to be viewed in either.

Dett is Genderfluid and a member of the Bandits. They're 18 and a very flirtatious person yet also cunning person. They take their job that comes with being a member of the Bandits very seriously.


Dett identifies as both Asexual and Aromantic.

  • (Cool) Dett's the name. But you know it baby. I got it all here. 'Seige of yorktown' is the topic you need right? Had a lot of orders for that one.

  • (Supporting) Honey pie, there can always be exceptions.

Sonny identifies as Pansexual. And despite it being openly shown, there are hints shown that Sonny might be dating Skip.

  • (Shy-ish) I even made a little addition to the new papers.

  • (Hopeless) We sent out a bad batch of bio papers. No one in their right minds will order from us now!
