So what is Rifted?
This is an audio drama/ongoing story that takes place in a land protected by the Dravara, a military organization that defends against what haunts over the Rift.
Running from the required two years of service in the Dravara isn’t unusual, and oftentimes facing a bounty hunter is better than what lies east. Sixteen-year-old Evander makes the decision to flee, but in a tragic turn of events Evander is separated from his family, and Evander is left to fend for himself. However, running can’t go on forever, and Evander is forced to face a reality even more terrifying than being on his own. What prowls over the Rift quickly becomes more than just fairy-tale and he discovers that not everything is exactly as it seems.
What follows is nothing short of a revolution.

The story deals with many issues that people face themselves, some small while others are quite large and seem impossible to tackle head on. It explores ways of overcoming them, the hardships they cause and just what it means to be truly human, while also including a cast of predominantly LGBT+ characters, including the main character, as well as others from various minority groups.
For roles featuring a character of a certain background/sexuality, I encourage those sharing that with the character to apply! However, it's not a requirement, of course. (Ex. a gay man may audition for the role of a gay character, but sharing that sexuality is not a requirement to audition)

All accents welcome! I don't have specifics in mind for any of them!
Extra Requirements:
1. Clear mic quality (doesn't have to be perfect, but minimal or no background noise, no clipping, no echo)
2. Willingness to commit to longer term project. If you take a role, make sure you can keep working on this! In the event of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, obviously this is something that can be talked about/worked around!
3. Absolutely no hate/racism/homophobia will be tolerated. There will not be warnings. You will be removed. I want this to be a comfortable place for people, and I can't make this a good environment with bigotry present. For ALL ROLES and to be a part of this project, you must be LGBTQ+ friendly. Not willing to budge on this one.
4. Sounds cheesy, but I want everyone to have fun and feel like they're a part of this, not just reading lines without interacting with the others in the project. For this reason, have the ability to use discord so I can communicate with you and the rest of the cast.

Aazyra is a high ranking officer who finds herself disposed due to some unfortunate circumstances. She is blunt, speaks her mind, and tends to have a very curt way of speaking. She isn't unkind, but she doesn't shy away from conflict, and can come off as a bit guarded at first. Open to a lot of voices with her, but a similar speech pattern and idea for her could be Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99.
She tends to whistle a lot as a habit, so if you can whistle, that's a bonus.
DRAVARA OFFICER COLLINS: We were instructed to house him, not kill him.
AAZYRA: Yes, ma’am, seems we are. (she turns to Zayne) Aazyra ((a-zeer-a)) Collins, good to meet you.
AAZYRA: You feeding her right, or she supposed to look like that? Skinny head and a neck like a string, looks like a damn goose.
Zayne is a very formal type person, but tends to come off as socially awkward when he doesn't have a "script" to follow. He works as a bounty hunter, takes his job very seriously, and is a very observant person when it comes to work, but not when interacting with others. He's fair, diplomatic and comfortable in situations where there's an expected way to behave. You won't find him in casual gatherings looking very comfortable at all.
He's young, only about 20 in the story, and lacks experience, but tries very hard to prove himself.
He doesn't speak the common tongue very well, so he has troubles pronouncing certain words and a noticeable accent (preferrably not UK based).
ZAYNE: Well, then in that case, you’re welcome. (he clears his throat) I know we were introduced back there, but...I’m Zayne.
ZAYNE (confident): Fully capable, I assure you.
ZAYNE: Technically I’m from Aldyra, but my father is southern, yes. My mother is Bruunish, I just wasn’t raised speaking common.
Wren is a kind soul. She has a very soft type voice, motherly in a way, but absolutely has a sense of "no nonsense" about her. Her voice is probably on the lower end, more mature and calming to listen to, but I'm open to a lot. She's marked as middle age, but is more just "adult" than anything else, just not exactly younger.
Though blind, she serves as a healer and diplomat for her group. I can't get too specific for this role without spoilers, so that'll have to do for now.
WREN: I hear your breath, but I cannot see your eyes. Are they open?
WREN: Drink this. You will feel much better. I was not sure you would survive the first night you arrived. How long has it been since you were fed?
WREN: You will come with me tonight then when we watch the skies. (she pauses) If you feel the strength to walk is with you, join us. If it is not, we will stay here, yes?
Len lacks confidence. He's very friendly, but often fails at keeping up conversations for multiple reasons. His speech is a bit broken, purely because he doesn't speak the common language very well yet, and he tends to turn the ends of sentences into mumbles. When he's comfortable, he's a very light-hearted and spirited guy, but it takes a lot for him to get to that point.
Above all, he values helping others and hates being alone.
LEN (nervous): I can speak...just not well. You are Aurora, yes?
LEN: Yes, hands. (he pauses briefly, then sounds excited) You do not have them!
